Skyview (2641), Papoose Jct., Minnesota, USA May 16, 2008 Sampled at Cellar’s Wine & Spirits in St Paul, Minnesota and shared by Sk8tybrd. Pours a semi-clear straw brew with a thin white head that slowly dissipates to a fine film and white ring. Aroma of some light corn grits, bready malt with wheat, a touch of yeast and some citrus zest. Taste is light bodied, well-carbonated with a metallic texture with flavors of light multi-grain crystal malts, citrus zest and some mild Ivory soap. Finish is high carbonated metallic and a sharp bitterness that slowly disappears. This was my first beer from Oklahoma in over ten years. Back in the mid-90s I remember when only 3.2 beers were allowed to be made in the state. Nice to see a change.
iowaherkeye (1366), Back in Iowa City!, Iowa, USA Jul 24, 2008 12oz bottle, no date from mar, thanks Marlon! Hazy yellow golden with a 1/2 finger white head, fading to a thin film before long. Aroma of some lemony and sweet wheat, and that’s about it. Flavor does get a little bit buttery, and a bit of corn shows up as well. Finish is semi-dry with minimal bitterness. Light prickly carbonation with a light body. Not terribly, but plenty of other generic wheat beers are quite a bit better. bu11zeye (3573), Frisco, Texas, USA Jul 2, 2008 (Bottle, courtesy of Swalden_28) Pours a lightly hazy pale yellow body with a small fizzy white head. Aroma of wheat, corn, and lemon zest. Flavor of wheat, soapy, and some flax seed. GAManiac (200), Atlanta, Georgia, USA Jun 29, 2008 Bottle courtesy of ericandersnavy. Pours a hazy, bright golden yellow with a bubbly white head that dissipated quickly to a ring with no lacing. Smell is of light grains, wheat and barley even, in addition to very light hops with lemon zest. The flavor is also a mesh of light grains and a bit of light hops. The mouthfeel is medium with high carbonation with a crisp finish. The drinkability on this one is good but, overall, this is really an average wheat beer with nothing standing out in the flavor. mar (505), Dallas, Texas, USA Jun 26, 2008 murky yellow pour with no head at all. sweet smell like a hefeweizen. watery mouthfeel with no real flavors besides cardboard and grass. Bhops (158), Dallas, Texas, USA Jun 24, 2008 Home, thanks to mar. Pours murky gold with thick rocky head. Aroma of slight citrus and soap with a little malt. Flavor is underwhelming. Slight malt and citrus without much else.
