Commercial Description:
The Belgian-style Dubbel is a beer style crafted by and made famous by the Trappist Monks of Belgium. Our version is deep ruby red and malty with just enough phenols and esters from the Belgian yeast to bring the complex flavors from a beer of this style into balance. We hope you enjoy Brewmasters Signature Series beer #2, feel free to share your thoughts about this beer at www.chocbeer.com Beers, Michael Lalli

650 ml bottle from Soonah. Thanks man. Pours a muddy brown color with a small beige head. The aroma is strong with complex spices of clove, nutmeg and allspice, there is also a fair bit of mixed fruits and distinctly Belgian style yeast. The taste is rich with banana, nutmeg, clove, almonds, pecans, and a bit of sweet toffee. The palate was thinner than I would have preferred, the carbonation lively. Finishes long with lingering sweet cloves. Overall: I think that this is a very good dubbel, one of the better US efforts, even my wife likes it. Thanks John.

bottle from cach road discount liqour in lawton, ok shared with swalden 28. poured a deep amber with an off white head that leaves lacing behind. aroma of caramel, spices, and some fruity notes. flavor was a caramel, some earthy spices, and alcohol. medium body with high carbonation. a good attempt at the style and one of the better choc beers.

Bottle, courtesy kiefdog. Very murky caramel color, fizzy white head, thin lacing. Apple cider nose, pear, some heat, slight sweet malt. Some dark fruit flavors, nice chocolate and caramel, sweet bright apples in the finish. Medium-bodied, smooth and tasty, heat is noticeable in the nose and virtually absent in the flavor.

Looks, smells, tastes more or less, as a dubbel. Appearance of amber -golden body with some white head of yeast, and tads of lace. Medium plus mouthfeel, creamy. Smells double Belgian yeast, you know. Taste was hasher in first half of body. A spot-on dubbel, though harsher, aggressive on palate really, at least at first, than I would have thought.

Thanks kiefdog for bringing a new state rating for most of us to the weekly tasting. Pours deep hazy copper with gold edges and thin dark tan head. The aroma is sweet, dark fruity and becoming sweeter with caramel and brown sugar. The taste has brown sugar and some dark fruitiness to start. By midway I get notes of caramel and a sense of alcohol into the finish with fading dark fruitiness.

Aroma is mainly sweet....mostly a belgian-like sugar, with some hints of caramel and raisins. flavor is sweet and fruity....definite presence of esters (banana, fig) with some candy sugar and caramel notes. Not bad for a Trappist-style beer brewed in Oklahoma.
