The aroma is strong with complex spices of clove, nutmeg and allspice, there is also a fair bit of mixed fruits and distinctly Belgian style yeast. The taste is rich with banana, nutmeg, clove, almonds, pecans, and a bit of sweet toffee. The palate was thinner than I would have preferred, the carbonation lively. Finishes long with lingering sweet cloves. Overall: I think that this is a very good dubbel, one of the better US efforts, even my wife likes it. Thanks John. sebletitje (1997), Tampa, Florida, USA

Looks, smells, tastes more or less, as a dubbel. Appearance of amber -golden body with some white head of yeast, and tads of lace. Medium plus mouthfeel, creamy. Smells double Belgian yeast, you know. Taste was hasher in first half of body. A spot-on dubbel, though harsher, aggressive on palate really, at least at first, than I would have thought. | 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Apr 22, 2009 Thanks kiefdog for bringing a new state rating for most of us to the weekly tasting. Pours deep hazy copper with gold edges and thin dark tan head. The aroma is sweet, dark fruity and becoming sweeter with caramel and brown sugar. The taste has brown sugar and some dark fruitiness to start. By midway I get notes of caramel and a sense of alcohol into the finish with fading dark fruitiness. milljam (584), Norman, Oklahoma, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Feb 21, 2009 Aroma is mainly sweet....mostly a belgian-like sugar, with some hints of caramel and raisins. flavor is sweet and fruity....definite presence of esters (banana, fig) with some candy sugar and caramel notes. Not bad for a Trappist-style beer brewed in Oklahoma.
