Brown, with some particles, and a bead of pearls around the rim of the glass. Aroma is yeasty, slightly sour, brown sugar. Some European hops. Medium bodied. Balanced finish. | 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Sep 16, 2003 Dense, darkish head (few cm), collapsing. Dark brown, opaque beer. Alcoholic nose, like a fine brandy-based liqueur. Something spicy, too: celery, coriander – bog myrtle? Also a vague nutty aroma, a bit of chocolate. Herbal bitter flavour, on top of a very malty beer, sweet and actually quite bland. Vague chocolate flavour warming up. Soupy mouthfeel; bit throat-prickling sensation, that isn’t alcoholburn. Roasted malt flavour keeps going on. It’s not very exciting. Well-crafted, OK, but there’s nothing to rave about.

| 4.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 5/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 18/20 | Jun 20, 2003 This ale pours a murky, cloudy brown color with a big, rocky, lasting off-white head. The aroma is strong with lots of dark fruits, yeasts, and spices. It has a medium body with full carboantion and a lively, smooth mouthfeel. The flavor is very complex with dark mafruits and malts, various spices, brown sugar, and molasses flavors all intermingling across your tongue and taste buds. The finish is long, sweet, malty, and spicy. A very wonderfull beer from a great brewery. Slick (1962), Thief River Falls, Minnesota, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jun 8, 2003 Cloudy darkish amber color,Tall, creamy tan head that lasted quite awhile, man i'm tired of these super head brew's i'm to impatient to wait for the head to die down for a drink of this nectar.Sweet malt aroma with some definate hints of fruit. The taste was mildly malty but mostly was spicey and fruity with a slight smoke to it,very slight nothing to harsh. There is also that spicey flavor, very nice. This definately doesn't give you the feel of a bock it seems more like something else what i'm unsure of but bock it's not IMO.The after taste was pretty decent mildly sweet, spicey and some hints of hops as well and finishes with a dry feel to it that leaves you with that what the hell was that feeling. amx1970390 (466), Southampton, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | May 24, 2003 Aroma is rather skunky, pours a hazey brown color. Nice creamy looking, long lasting light brown head. Flavor is a spice mixed with dark wheat flavor. Very soft feeling, but heavily carbonated. Finishes dry, Austinpowers is right, it is more like a Belgian Dubbel than a Bok. It is like a good aged cheese, or a "you know what", once you taste it, the aroma goes away.
