| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Nov 15, 2002 Head is initially large, frothy, off-white, mostly lasting. Body is murky medium orange-brown, bottle conditioned. Aroma is moderately malty (caramel, nutty), lightly hoppy (herbs), lightly yeasty (mold, cobwebs), with notes of orange, brown sugar, vanilla, clove, and alcohol. Flavor is moderately sweet, moderately acidic, lightly bitter. Finish is lightly sweet, moderately acidic, lightly bitter. Medium body, watery (almost syrupy) texture, lively carbonation. Very nice aroma and well balanced, I just don’t dig sourness in this style enough to make it a fave. JPDIPSO (4906), Wauwatosa, Wisconsin, USA
| 4.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 10/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 19/20 | Oct 27, 2002 Starts out as a clear ruby/chestnut color with a tall ecru head. As you get deeper in the bottle it turns a opaque brown with a scads of small brown particles. Sweet hay, light orange hops and yeast aromas. touch of cocoa, along with mild pale malt, light fruits and just a touch of corriander. Nothing overpowering but very balanced and pleasant.
