Commercial Description:
A unique marriage between the English tradition of IPAs, the new American revolution of Imperial IPAs and the classic Belgian way of brewing. Houblon Chouffe, although very much hopped as it is, showcases the unique balance between a very strong IPA and a very special Belgian Tripel exclusively created for this ale (Big malty body, distinct dryness, expressive estery fruitiness). - IBU: 59, Original Gravity: 1092

Surprised I never rated this but here goes... I’ll be honest, I’m not a huge fan of Belgian beers and I’ve always been skeptical or Belgian IPAs. This pours a slightly cloudy straw yellow with a rocky, frothy, stiff white head. Nose is lemons, grapefruits, something a touch medicinal, grass, and herbs. Grass, pine, herbs and flowers all in the mouth. Dry and yeasty. Drinkable but I didn’t love it.

Bottle. Golden with a white head. Aromas are yeast and soft citrus with some pine. Some honey in the form of Lockets cough lozenges. Tropical fruit mix with some herbal, floral notes. Flavours are sweet tropical fruit with grapefruit and apricot. Some herbal notes also come through. Yeasty and dry with a peppery finish. Warming alcohol with some light pine bitterness on the finish. Good.

Double IPA Triple a 9% Une robe plutot dorée avec une mousse épaisse qui demeure longtemps. Léger goût floral et de houblon. Le 9% d’alcool est discret. Le prix est par contre trop élevé au Québec pour se procurer cette bière.

Shakeyfest 09. Thanks to Johnny I believe. Aroma is grassy, but nice. Moderately bitter. Slightly skunky. Not particularly hoppy, but a well balanced beer.

Pours a golden-orange with a nice looking head. Aroma is very fruity like light fruits(peach, apricot, orange) Taste is the same as the aroma with a little straw taste. Once you get to the bottom of each glass the bitterness comes into play. Nice lacing & well hidden alcohol.

Pours a cloudy light orange color with an enormous mound of white head and a lot of lacing. Very hoppy aroma similar to an ipa. Initial flavor is hoppy and slightly bitter before getting overtaken with a typical tripel yeast taste. Nice medium body. This is definitely a unique beer, and very enjoyable.

Draught at Delirium Café, Brussels. Clear golden coloured with a massive and lasting egg white head. Nice lacings. Very fizzy/bubbly brew. Floral aroma with notes of citrus fruits, honey, yeast, grass, herbs and sweet pale malt. Bitter and floral flavour with notes of grapefruit, pale malt, yeast and lots of hops. You really can’t taste the 9 % of alcohol. Really well made. Sadly you can’t get this one in Denmark..

Bottle. Beer pours a chucky hazy golden yellow. With a thick white head. The nose is sweet hoppyness and musty yeast. The flavor is a mix of malt and hops with the hops being most note able at the start and finish of the taste and the malt coming out in the middle. The finish is dry but there is a secondary finish that is totally Belgium.
