| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jan 9, 2009 Pours a light golden color with a massive pillowy white head that has unbelievable lacing that looks like gobs of those old egg crate mattress pad liners on the sides of the glass. Nose is corn, a bit of cattiness (saaz hops, bleh!) yeasty baking bread, caramel, grass, and carbonation. Mouthfeel is extremely carbonated yet slightly astringent and very bitter on the back-end. Not exactly enjoyable. There is Such extreme carbonation I am writing this at 4:30 am because I cannot sleep with indigestion. The taste is where this beer is really lacking and personally, I like beer that tastes good. Imagine that! I get corn, wheat, yeast, seltzer, grass, caramel, bit of mulling spices, and some pineapple but nothing delicious. Top rated tripel you have disappointed me. WesKBob (321), Bethany, Oklahoma, USA
| 4.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 18/20 | Jan 3, 2009 An absolutely beautiful beer--looks like a beer commercial with a hazy straw color and a thick, pillow-like white head with excellent retention and lacing. Aroma is light, with hints of citrus and flowery hops. Flavor is slightly sweet, with hints of vanilla, but some hop bitterness in the aftertaste. I like the creativity--they basically took a pretty good Tripel and then added a decent amount of hops to balance out the natural Belgian sweetness. The result is a very clean, crisp taste that lingers on the palate. Just the right amount of hop bite on the back of the throat and masks the ABV well. Very nice. | 4.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 18/20 | Jan 3, 2009 33cl bottle. Poured very carefully as to avoid the yeast on the bottom. Pours a bright golden orange body with small bits of particulate floating around. Lots of rising carbonation. Even though I poured this slowly, it produced a gigantic snow-white head that remained very creamy and took absolutely forever to dissipate. While dissipating it made for some crazy looking shapes. At one point, it looked like a cookie cutter in the shape of a star had gently landed in the middle of the head. When it finally dissipated, it remained loaded with lacing and very swirly on the surface. Sexy looking beer. Aroma is heavily malted and a refined Belgian yeast strain, however the yeast is pretty mellow compared to similar styled beers. Definitely has the sweetness and spiciness characters of the tripel style. Lots of raspberry candy smells. Soft, but sharp citrus hops balance the aroma very well. Kind of sparkly or even perfume smelling. The flavor is fantastic. Its a sweeter version of any Belgian Strong Ale. Lots of fruity yeast flavors and sweetly spiced malts. Very breadlike maltiness too. Wow is this complex. Theres more of that candy sugar, some light grassy hoppiness, and a delicate bitter finish. This mouthful is great too. Its extremely soft and light, but medium to full bodied and a tickling sparkling carbonation. Overall, this is a phenomenal beer. It starts sweet and malty, then slowly moves to a delicately spiced and yeasty middle, before ending with a pinch of sweet malts and a subtle, but defined grassy bitterness. Lingers lightly as sweet, spiced, and hopped. This is one of my new all-time faves. Wow! santos999 (318), Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jan 2, 2009 Not bad. The hops are a bit overpowering versus the delicate malt and yeast notes, leading to a slightly underwhelming beer with a long, nasty aftertaste. What flavor exist while it’s in the mouth are delicious, I just can’t believe how crappy it ends. forsides (67), union, New Jersey, USA
| 4.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Jan 2, 2009 pours translucent golden yellow with abundant head. beautiful grassy citrusy smell. taste starts with a nice amount of cabonation on the tongue and roof of mouth, followed by sweet/fruitiness of belgian yeast, then followed by abundant hop spicniness and aroma. saaz hops adds reminiscence of a well hopped pilsner. a wonderful marriage of styles MAP (1089), Lakewood, Ohio, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Dec 31, 2008 Hazy yellow pour that gave quite a bit of head. Aroma is a slightly grassy Belgian with a good hint of citrus. Flavor is lightly malted and slightly sweet. It doesn’t offend the senses at all, either with too much bitterness or sweetness. This just has a nice gentle flavor that is combined with a viscous, oily mouth feel. puggy211 (584), cordova, Tennessee, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Dec 22, 2008 Bottled. Poured cloudy yellow with a bright white, meringue-like head. Hops, malt, yeast, and citrus aroma. The flavor is lemonpeel, spice, and malt, with a nicely hoppy/bitter aftertaste leading to a dry finish. Ober (1186), Bommelerwaard, Netherlands
