Commercial Description:
A unique marriage between the English tradition of IPAs, the new American revolution of Imperial IPAs and the classic Belgian way of brewing. Houblon Chouffe, although very much hopped as it is, showcases the unique balance between a very strong IPA and a very special Belgian Tripel exclusively created for this ale (Big malty body, distinct dryness, expressive estery fruitiness). - IBU: 59, Original Gravity: 1092

Bottle. Pours a yellowish color with a long lasting two finger white head. Smells sweet and a little hoppy. Smells of yeast. Taste is hoppy and a bit bitter. Decent beer.

From 750mL. Farmhouse funky nose with yeasty and a bit sulfury hint of hop character. Light sweetness, with notes of honey, pilsner malt, and vanilla. Despite being an IPA-Tripel, so to speak, this has a fairly delicate nose. Hints of floral character with even a little bit of talc. Cloudy golden amber body with medium sized floaties of yeast. It is topped with a rocky-foamy meringue-like head with tremendous lacing. Medium body with medium carbonation and light carbonic fizz. Starts with nice neutral fruit sweetness. A bit of pear and some peach, vanilla and coriander. Very light with just a hint of honey sweetness. Mild alcohol taste with a little warming. Sweet and mellow throughout with some nice hop bittering in the finish. Yeasty chalky bitter character in the after. This is a real nice tripel and I could drink this every day.

Bottle. Pours a light orange with a thick, foamy, creamy white head. Aroma of skunk, spices, and yeast. Flavor is light, lots of yeast and melon rind. Some skunk persists. A pretty mellow beer. Slight hoppy bitterness. A typical Belgian ale, nice and easy to drink.

On tap at Monks cafe, Philadephia in the company of Loz, Casey and Traci 15-11-08 Pours hazy golden in colour with a thin white head. Really flowery, hoppy, clean and with lavender showing? Good sweetness to this its rich, malty but the nice perfumeyness returns again, with bitterness catching up at the end, very nice beer.

750ml. bright golden haystack color. pours thick dense and opaque. massive puffy white head is crazy thick, totally huge and very persistent. just have to sit and watch it shrink in order to get a whiff. yeasty belgian aroma is backed by sweet butterscotch notes, and fresh grain. a delicious balance of sweet golden ale and bitter piney finish. oily rich mouthfeel. leaves lace as thick as cake frosting in its wake.

(10/20/08) Draught at Monk’s Cafe in Philadelphia. Cloudy orange-golden with a medium white head. Aroma of citrus hops, some spice, yeast and some fruits (peach, a bit of apricot and a bit of apples). Sweetish flavor, a bit spicy, with some caramel, fruits, and a bitter finish with hops, notes of citrus and spices, a bit of earth and subdued alcohol hints. Nice mouthfeel. Good.
