Chouffe Houblon Dobbelen IPA Tripel

750ml bottle shred with BeerGestapo. As soon as I popped the cap this one erupted in a fountain of foam. Poured a hazy light gold with a ton of sediment topped by a huge lasting white head. Smells of lemon, grass, citrus, light funkiness. Initial taste is sweet that gives way to bitterness. Some grass, lemon zest, and herbal flavors come along with the bitterness. Leaves a nice coating of lace. Short dry finish. I don’t know, I liked it, it was good, but it didn’t blow my mind. I was expecting something special, but it merely good, not great.

Thanks to Carythedude for this one. Pours golden with a huge white head. Aroma is lightly fruity, spicey, hoppy. Flavor is the fruity, nice balance between the malt profile i expect from tripels with a surprisingly strong hop hit.

Tap at the Map Room in Chicago. Definitely an interesting beer; it really does blend the defining characteristics of strong IPAs and tripels in a way that is enjoyable and not gimmicky. There’s loads of hoppy bitterness as well as the spice/clove/banana sweetness reminiscent of tripels. Cool beer.

Best before end 2009. Big gusher, pale golden hue with two fingers of frothy white head. Lots of cracked glass lacing, yeasty spiciness in the aroma. Grassy and herbal hops. Good body, tripel like tastes, spicy cloves, peppery. Then a finish of strong wet, herbal American hops. Grassiness and hay mustiness and a slight alcohol heat in the finish.

This beer gives more head then ten hookers! We had this in our glasses for at least 1/2 hour and the head stayed like marshmallows on hot cocoa or sea foam on a foamy beach! Bitter hop after taste with all the lovely orange belgian coriander notes that we love! The finish is super smooth but the hops linger for days! This is one of the more unique, interesteing belgian hybrids we’ve tried. BTW, at the end of our glasses appeared a ’marshmallow’ of head foam that you could gather up and eat with a spoon! Rinse your glass before trying the next beer! Awesome!

Pours a cloudy yellow with a foamy white head. Smells of alcohol, lemons and yeast. Slightly astringent as well. The taste is bold on the alcohol with some lemon sour/tartness. Pretty beefy, but balanced well and creamy on the palate. Good beer.

Tasted at Delirium cafe in Brussels. What a nice beer! Surprised it´s 9%, didn´t realise. ¿Hops is gorgeous, malty goodness is perfect, left lace on glass and what more could a woman want?

I’m rating this with a cold so bare with me. I bought this because the dude at John’s recommended this beer. He knows what he’s talking about. Buy this beer.
