Commercial Description:
A unique marriage between the English tradition of IPAs, the new American revolution of Imperial IPAs and the classic Belgian way of brewing. Houblon Chouffe, although very much hopped as it is, showcases the unique balance between a very strong IPA and a very special Belgian Tripel exclusively created for this ale (Big malty body, distinct dryness, expressive estery fruitiness). - IBU: 59, Original Gravity: 1092

On draft, tapped a cloudy yellow-orange with a small but respectable white head that remained. Aroma was sweet citrus and flowers. Taste was spicy sweet (nearly cloying) pale malt with a host of fruitiness, especially citrus, though not tart or off-putting. Really good, really smooth, and will really mess you up if you have more than a few.

What is not to love? This is a fantastically made beer with a great spicy hoppiness, the blend of hops is surprising but works well. This however does not compromise the signature fruitiness of other delicious Chouffe beers, but does help to balance the sweetness tipping this beer over to the dry side. The beer looks great in a tulip glass with a huge rocky white head, that leaves tons of lace. Aromas are floral and spicy (of course).

Had on tap at Delirium in Brussels. An amazing beer with everything I want and need. The hoppyness of IPA with the crisp sweeter taste of a Belgian triple.

Nice take on a tripel. Everything the style is known for (spice, malt, earthiness) with an extra dose of hops thrown in. Nice dryness and slight bitterness. Pours a yellow straw color with a head that thick and frothy, and sticks around like cool whip. Aroma is subtle spice. Flavor is slightly fruity with notes of spice and hops. Good, but a bit overrated.

Poured from bottle a hazy orange with a large pillowy white head. Aroma pours out with a spicey citrus zing, honey and some clove. The flavor is sizzling crisp with lots of carbonation checking in with touch of bubblegum, yeast, bread, a very mild floral citrus hop tart-bitter. This beer was amazing with the pizza I was eating. It’s hard to believe that it was a 9 percenter. I would drink this anytime.

Had on tap. This is such a sharp and crisp beer that it is nearly flawless for its style - if this even falls into one category. It is more complex too then what comes across on first taste. It is dry and hoppy and quite carbonated. It is the champagne of beers -f or real. You don’t pick up on the alcohol content as it is smooth in that respect. It really need to be thought about to be appreciated.

Interesting concoction. Very carbonated and yeasty. Like a rich Alka Seltzer, it reminds me of Orval. Has a thick meringue like head, much like Orval, too. Okay, but I probably wouldn’t buy this again.
