Commercial Description:
A unique marriage between the English tradition of IPAs, the new American revolution of Imperial IPAs and the classic Belgian way of brewing. Houblon Chouffe, although very much hopped as it is, showcases the unique balance between a very strong IPA and a very special Belgian Tripel exclusively created for this ale (Big malty body, distinct dryness, expressive estery fruitiness). - IBU: 59, Original Gravity: 1092

Smells strongly of hops, yeast and wheatish malt. Very light, cloudy, lots of head. Tastes like a strong pilsner that got really hopped up and smoothed out with the tripel treatment. Pretty good, but more words in the name than the result warrants.

Tulip @ Tyler’s Apex, Greta aroma, nice hop, on the grassy side, subtle spice, some banana. Greenish gold color, good head and lace. Bitter sweet flavor, sharp bitterness with subtle sweetness. Lite body, thin creamy mouthfeel, bitter finish. Tasty, like it’s initial taste, gave way to a ABV harshness as it warmed. Could of sworn I had this before now, but apparently not, check....

Aroma of hops, yeas, citrus and grass. Apperance yellow with medium white head. Flavor is sweet and bitter with hints of citrus. Overall a diseppointment, the IPA-flavors don’t raise the borring taste of tripple.

Dark yellow colored with cloudy appearance. Medium sized white head. Rich hopped aroma with grass and flowers, some fruity tones with peach and orange peel, also some tripel spiciness, mild alcohol and even some vinous tones come up. Excellent aroma. Medium to full bodied. Flavor is similar with sweet fruity start, aftertaste turns to dry hopped with flowers, spices, yeast and lemon last. Excellent brew.

Draft - Poured at beautiful golden amber in color with a large, thick white head that hung around to produce a lot of lacing on the glass. Aroma was quite yeasty (classic Belgian) with plenty of fruity esters... grapes, apple... and a small amount of grassy hops. Flavor was much more about the fruitiness and yeast than it was about hops. Hop flavor and bitterness were much more muted than I expected. Some of the hop bitterness appears that the end. Interesting new approach to beer...

I was a bit surprised by this beer. I know it is not an american IPA, but I was expecting a bit more hop flavor. Pours golden with a light white head. Nice flavor, but a bit yeasty for me. This is a good beer, but I was not as impressed as I was hoping for.

Golden colour, small white head, lots of lacing. Smells of grass, straw and yeast although less than is usual for the style, smells almost more like a well hopped pilsner than a tripel. Flavour is also hoppy and is also reminiscent of a pilsner more than a tripel although the yeastiness is there in the background. Mouthfeel is average with small crisp bubbles. Overall more interesting than well tasting, I don’t join the hype, but it is still worth a try.
