Commercial Description:
A unique marriage between the English tradition of IPAs, the new American revolution of Imperial IPAs and the classic Belgian way of brewing. Houblon Chouffe, although very much hopped as it is, showcases the unique balance between a very strong IPA and a very special Belgian Tripel exclusively created for this ale (Big malty body, distinct dryness, expressive estery fruitiness). - IBU: 59, Original Gravity: 1092

Pours like a white beer. Huge carbonation. Looked like a champagne opening. Massive fluffy white head that just glues itself to the glass. Aroma is all Saaz hops and I don’t pick up any of the others. Taste is typical Belgian sweetness. A hint of fruit and mostly banana. The hops tame it down in the end. I have stated it many time in my reviews that I am not a fan of Belgians and what I call the dirty-candy taste but this was very drinkable for me. The IPA part of the label is what made me buy and I did enjoy it. I would buy again.

750 Batch # 3 (Best before end of 2009) pours out a slightly hazed gold to light amber color with a very big meringue, plaster, Styrofoam like white head and scary cobweb lace that looks like it could hold tons of weight. The aroma struck me as grassy spring warm weather hops with some yeasty funkiness accompanied by banana clove that takes me straight across the pond to Belgium. The flavor has some solid sweetness and spice that reminds me of cardamom, with some delicious banana to assist. Oh yeah, there is that yeast that fully makes it balanced out by adding complexity. The hops are almost lost here, but they seem to assist the yeast in balancing out the sweetness. I’m really not seeing an IPA (like the bottle says), but rather a really fantastic Triple. This is delicious. The alcohol is very well hidden; can’t find it in the flavor - but I feel it in the tummy. The broth like palate also shines as it has good depth and a nice cleansing body. I could live off this for days. This is great beer.

Huge foamy eruption before the cap was removed. Big rocky white head that sticks around, a classic Munich brauhaus pour. Nice herbal, grassy weed aroma . Light/medium body and very smooth. Dry cracker malt taste up front with an incredible sweet spicy mix of west coast and euro hops to finish. very easy drinking, love this one. 1307

Golden yellow in color with a two finger thick white fluffy head. Light fruit, spices and floral hops on the nose. A lot going on with the aroma. A definite citrus flavor here with spices and a nice bitter finish.

Bottle, said batch # 3, best before end 2009. Huge, fluffy head and THICK lacing, my goodness, looked like styrofoam spray or something on the sides of my glass. Aroma of spices, including clove and others (not very knowledgeable with my spices), banana, maybe some other light fruit, and the advertised hops that were all at once unexpectedly light but surprisingly placed amidst the classic Belgian yeast scent. All in all intriguing, but very delicate, refined. Flavor was equally delicate but continued to be a unique blending of styles, as it was supposed to be, hops become a bit more of a presence toward the end, but certainly never overwhelming the softer flavors contained. Very well done brew, enjoyed it a lot, definitely achieved maximum potential for such delicate flavors.

Medium yellow color - very lively & thick head with lovely lacing. Aroma is fruity and slightly estery with a hint of perfumy flowers. Flavor is somewhat rich and hoppy - with a nice malt backbone to balance it out. Silky, and surprisingly smooth. Finish is basically dry. Enjoyed it.

Pours out a golden brown color with a large off white head. aroma was your typical yeasty sweet scent with a nice hoppy citrus note to it. Flavor was similar with a interesting mix of sweet bread and hops. This is an interesting brew and not that bad at all.
