Commercial Description:
A unique marriage between the English tradition of IPAs, the new American revolution of Imperial IPAs and the classic Belgian way of brewing. Houblon Chouffe, although very much hopped as it is, showcases the unique balance between a very strong IPA and a very special Belgian Tripel exclusively created for this ale (Big malty body, distinct dryness, expressive estery fruitiness). - IBU: 59, Original Gravity: 1092

On tap at Monks cafe, Philadephia in the company of Loz, Casey and Traci 15-11-08 Pours hazy golden in colour with a thin white head. Really flowery, hoppy, clean and with lavender showing? Good sweetness to this its rich, malty but the nice perfumeyness returns again, with bitterness catching up at the end, very nice beer.

[Bottle. Akkurat, Stockholm] Hazy pale yelow colour. Huge head.Grape, citrus from hops, also vanilla in aroma. Alcohol was also sensed in aroma. Sweetish malty as always with d’Achouffe, accompanied by a herbal, bitter sensation from the hops. Very interesting how 59 IBU can make such a difference in a Belgian beer.

750 ml bottle poured a clear yellow with a large lasting white head. Aromas of fruitiness, spice, yeast, wheat and earthy hops. Palate was light bodied and crisp. Flavors of wheat, pepper, earthy hops, orange and a hint of lemon with a dry lingering lightly bitter finish.

Bottle. Pours a clear pale yellow with a huge lasting fluffy white head. Aroma is a hops medley along with some belgian yeast, malt, spices and more. Flavour: oh yeah, lots of hops! Spicey and yeasty too -- nice and complex. Medium to full bodied. Hides the alcohol very well. This is simply fantastic, unique and well done!

750 mL bottle. Pours hazy sparkling yellow with a large white foamy head, lasting, with excellent lacing. Aroma is average malt (straw, meal), heavy hops (flowers, fruit, grass), average yeast (dough, earth) with fragrant notes of apple, pear and honey. Average duration, moderate sweetness, acidity and bitterness; malty floral perfume hop flavor, creamy. Full bodied, average carbonation, sticky texture and creamy finish.
