Commercial Description:
A unique marriage between the English tradition of IPAs, the new American revolution of Imperial IPAs and the classic Belgian way of brewing. Houblon Chouffe, although very much hopped as it is, showcases the unique balance between a very strong IPA and a very special Belgian Tripel exclusively created for this ale (Big malty body, distinct dryness, expressive estery fruitiness). - IBU: 59, Original Gravity: 1092

The pour reveals a beautifull cloudy yellow color with floaties and a medium fluffy white head. Excellent aroma of earthy, fruity, floral hops with citrus and belgian yeast. The flavor is also excellent and has the same earthy, fruity, floral hops with citrus and yeast. The body has a medium thickness with a superb smooth and creamy mouthfeel and soft carbonation. Excellent, it really feels like an American IPA / Belgian tripel hybrid, nicely done and very enjoyable.

Bottled. Aroma has some yeast, citrus, little spice and ipa style hops. Hazy, golden coloured with a medium, lasting, white head. Taste is a little sweet with moderate bitterness. There is spice (coriander), yeast, citrus and american hoppiness. Medium bodied, dry. Good balance and complexity.

Pours with a voluminous, gigantic, creamy white head that leaves good lace as it slowly recedes over a hazed golden body. Aroma of sweet Belgian yeastiness, candi sugar, apricot, pear, marshmallow and some citrus hops. Taste is sweet with apricot, pear and hops, alcohol and peach eau de vie. Noticeable fusel alcohols in the taste. Light bubbles and a thin, alcoholic mouthfeel. This beer is all over the place, doesn’t meld very well.

Aroma of citrus (mostly lemon) yeast, malt and some orange too, hazy apricot colour, an enormous , rocky white head, with a dollop of white foam looking like melted vanilla ice cream lasting until the last sip, which was over twenty minutes, lots of floaties, lovely lace. Wow the wack of flavour from the fine malt and those orangey hops is stunning! Some yeast, pear, grapefruit, white plum and orange zest add to the taste sensation. Full bodied, very well balanced, complex, a bitterness to live for, a tart dryness to applaud for, fine tongue tingle, Incredible! A true hybrid!

Cloudy golden body, thick white head and many particles. Aroma is citrusy (lemon), hoppy and spicy. Taste doesn’t re-invent the tripel genre but improves on it. A savant mix of spices that marvellously the fruity flavours (citrus, pineapples). Rich body and complex palate. The hop level while being much higher than typical tripels doesn’t prostitute the genre. It actually adds a nice twist and a pleasant conclusion to known story. Bar far the best, most complex and tastiest Chouffe. I only got to try a little glass at a sampling party, now I need to get myself a few bottles. It’s beer like that makes me wanna live forever… or die trying.

From the bottle and on tap at Concordia Ale House. The hops from the bottle are sweeter and brighter, the beer on tap seemed more bitter. Nose has a big citrus floral hop aroma, nice spicing as well. Starts sweeter, citrus candy taste, wood and apricot taste. High carbonation from the bottle made the hops more floral and kicked the spice up a bit.

75 cl bottle at Delirium, Brussels.Huge thick white head crowns this cloudy golden beer. Very hoppy nose, like a newly mown lawn, but with fruity, even perfumy notes as well. Great bitter flavavours, grassy and fruity hops, very Hommelbier-like. Full-bodied with good carbonation. Rare, but worth seeking out.

Présence d’un énorme col crémeux sculpté avec une fine dentelle sur le verre. Saveur: Goût d’agrumes et d’épices. Palette: Le corps est moyen. Moyenne effervescence en bouche. Présence d’amertume en arrière goût. (Rating #1032)
