Commercial Description:
A unique marriage between the English tradition of IPAs, the new American revolution of Imperial IPAs and the classic Belgian way of brewing. Houblon Chouffe, although very much hopped as it is, showcases the unique balance between a very strong IPA and a very special Belgian Tripel exclusively created for this ale (Big malty body, distinct dryness, expressive estery fruitiness). - IBU: 59, Original Gravity: 1092

From 750mL. Farmhouse funky nose with yeasty and a bit sulfury hint of hop character. Light sweetness, with notes of honey, pilsner malt, and vanilla. Despite being an IPA-Tripel, so to speak, this has a fairly delicate nose. Hints of floral character with even a little bit of talc. Cloudy golden amber body with medium sized floaties of yeast. It is topped with a rocky-foamy meringue-like head with tremendous lacing. Medium body with medium carbonation and light carbonic fizz. Starts with nice neutral fruit sweetness. A bit of pear and some peach, vanilla and coriander. Very light with just a hint of honey sweetness. Mild alcohol taste with a little warming. Sweet and mellow throughout with some nice hop bittering in the finish. Yeasty chalky bitter character in the after. This is a real nice tripel and I could drink this every day.

750 ml Bottle: A yeasty and vanilla and clove aroma. The appearance of this beer is something to behold. Cloudy yellow body with giant white ocean foam head. Soapy lacing left stuck to side of glass. A full bodied brew witha mix of vanilla and some zesty sweet fruit. Smooth and a pleasure to drink and a topic of conversation arround the table by the pool about that appearance of beer.

A great aroma. A quite meringue-y head. Flavor is spicy and tasty. This is really good stuff. Never been disappointed with this brewery.

Yeasty citrusy nose, hazy orange color, fluffy very rocky head. Looks like a piece of lemon meringue pie - wild head form after it sits. Vanilla notes, citrus, oranges. Very hoppy, grapefruit-like bitter. Gritty finish, bit bite. Interesting mix that works well. Went great with our cheese platter.

Nice hazy golden coloured body with a super-dense frothy white head. Aroma of strong honey, malt, hops, yeast, curacao and nice coriander seed. Full-bodied; Great strong maltiness along with a great hoppy flavour, especially for a belgie. Nice sweet kicks persist with a touch of malt as a backbone really make this one good. Aftertaste is potent and long-lasting - a truly nice beer to sample. I had this 75 cL bottle purchased from Oliver’s Beverage in Albany, New York on 03-March-2007.

Bottle shared with the usual suspects - courtesy of R. Bright yellow with a huge white head that leaves lots of lace. Aroma has big notes of yeast and spice, herbal hops, and a bit of funk - reminded me of a souped up saison or wit. Flavour is very complex - spice, yeast & citrus, peppery hops, tart and dry finish. A very unique & extremely successful experiment.

12oz bottle at Winking Lizard in Columbus - Pours golden slight haze with a short white head. Aromas of lgiht citrus and a little pine. Flavor of yeast, candi sugar, pine, and citrus. Palate is smooth and pretty easy drinking with a fair amount of carbonation.. Not bad..

Draught @ Delerium, Brussels. Fruity bubblegum yeast and peppery citric hop nose. Sweetish biscuity malt in the mouth with hop flavours drying this out in the finish but it isnt particularly bitter. Quite drinkable considering the strength although the alcohol is noticeable to the detriment of the beer.
