Commercial Description:
A unique marriage between the English tradition of IPAs, the new American revolution of Imperial IPAs and the classic Belgian way of brewing. Houblon Chouffe, although very much hopped as it is, showcases the unique balance between a very strong IPA and a very special Belgian Tripel exclusively created for this ale (Big malty body, distinct dryness, expressive estery fruitiness). - IBU: 59, Original Gravity: 1092

750ml bottle. Intriguing hoppy, fruity, spicy aroma, the hops green, fresh, herbal and lightly citric, combining with notes of pear, pineapple, white grape, lightly sugary malts and some background peppery alcohol and doughy yeast. Light-medium golden yellow color, mostly clear with a mountainous head of sticky, dense, white foam and matching lace. Flavor profile is interestingly conceived as well, with plenty of spicy, fruity, floral hop character throughout, seeing a small amount of honeyish, lightly sweet maltiness towards the finish, which is otherwise drying, bitter and peppery with a tinge of alcohol late. Mouthfeel is effervescent and lightly oily with the influx of hops, the body is medium-full. A worthy effort and fully recognizable as the hybrid it is, I believe.

750ml bottle, with way more going on than your average beer. Pours a hazy gold with an enormous puffy cloudscape of a head that refuses to dissapate. You pretty much have to dig you way down to the liquid portion of this beer. The aroma is oranges, grass and fruit. The taste shows a bit of the fruity IPA character, along with some spice in a creamy full body that does an excellent job of hiding the alcohol. The finish is spicy grapefruit.

Bottle: Hazy light gold with a wonderful fluffy peaky beaten egg head. Spicy, estery nose with suprising hoppy grapefruit notes. Flavour is big grassy fat hops with juicy tripel fruits. Great spices and very tasty.

Bottle from Pix Patisserie in Portland, Oregon--Poured a light hazy amber body with a big fluffy white head. Hoppy, fruity, yeasty hopped nose. Tropical, complex, spicy piquancy quite unique to this brew.

Wow! What a beer. 750 ml bottle @ BevMo Carmel Mtn. Aroma of wet grass, citrus, and dandelions......seriously. As I let the beer sit, the flavors intensified dramatically. This is why Brasserie is among my top 10 breweries of all time.

750 ml bottle via trade with HogTownHarry - Pours a light golden color with a huge white head. The head leaves lots of stringy lacing as it settles. Has a spicey, banana, and alcohol aroma. Has a spicey, yeasty banana flavor. Lots of esters. It also has a pretty good hop bite. A smooth, slightly dry medium to full body beer. Very nice beer. Thanks Harry.

Bottle: Forget the beer, I owuld pay the $8 just to get to pour this creation into a bunch of different glasses, and see what head formations I was left with. Right now it has made a roof over the rest of the beer with just the pour and sipping hole in the top of it. I wish I had a digital camera. Other than that, it pours a slightly hazy golden yellow. Aroma, spice and floral hops. Some lemon. The flavor, light and hoppy. Some more spiciness. As it has warmed the alcohol has come through a bit more. There is a pleasent bitterness, that hangs around for a while. This is a very nice beer, and it’s always fun to try something unlike anything I’ve had before. Cheers to unique ideas!

Bottle shared at tasting thanks to chadspivey.
Pours a bright hazy rich golden color with a lasting white head. Smell is yeasty, hoppy, floray, and dusty. Taste is more hoppy than expected, a bit dry and dusty, and very IPA like, with light citrusy hoppy flavor. Medium bodied. Good stuff, that I’d like to give another try.
