They had run out of bottles in the cool room, so they had to run across the road and get me a bottle from the other cellar. Which in turn ment it wasnt cold when i first drank it, so after sitting with it in an ice bucket it was game. Really hoppy beast, i can smell it without going near th glass. spicey yeasty character, such a different style of beer that could be a love or hate thing, alll the different types of hops are evedent, amarillo for fruity citrus, sazz for grassy citrus bitterness and the other type iv forgotten was bitter and spicey, perppery. Really good beer to try at last. hopscotch (5549), Vero Beach, Florida, USA

The nose is spicy and doughy with notes of sugar cookie, pepper and lemon peel. The flavor is well-balanced with citrus fruit, fuzzy fruit and bread. Medium-bodied and dry with lively carbonation. Crisp, dry finish. CaptainCougar (5544), Rockville, Maryland, USA

Unique sweet, earthy malty aroma has a ton of fresh piney and citrusy hops and good light fruity character with a hint of bready Belgian yeastiness. Body starts with a nice light sweetness and very well-balanced with a good bitterness and some citric grapefruity flavor along with a touch of estery fruits. Finishes lightly bitter and dry, hiding the alcohol well. Not overly bitter or sweet, with a very unique Belgian touch. Bov (5514), Bienne, Switzerland

| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Sep 7, 2006 Bottle. Hazy orange in colour, large frothy head. Aroma is very citric and you can tell it gonna be quite hoppy, slightly aromatic nose, with a sharp yeasty character. palate is lively/carbonated, with loads of bitter orangey characters, and then some peppery alcohol, and more citric hops again in the finish. Hops are what comes up in the nose, but in a rather peculiar way - way more European than American hoppy. And dried mandarines, somehow. Hopbitter, quite some citrus (orangezeste), dry hops, but no C-hops. More tannine and even pine. Appropriate resiny-oily MF. Medium to well-bodied. Dry aftertaste. Very good beer - not a typical IPA, neither a typical Belgian strong but really good in itself. I hate positively one thing about this beer. It’s name, a typical (!) Chris Bauweraerts humoristic streak... though MarcusM tells me it’s the American importer, rather... Dobbelen? ThomasE (5178), Copenhagen, Denmark

Yeasty floral aroma with notes of citrus fruits and soap. The flavour is very well balanced with a full bodied bready malt profile interacting perfectly with massive amounts of hops, but in the end the hops take over and rule the finish with a lingering dryness and bitterness. A very succesful wedding between Belgium and America.
