Commercial Description:
A unique marriage between the English tradition of IPAs, the new American revolution of Imperial IPAs and the classic Belgian way of brewing. Houblon Chouffe, although very much hopped as it is, showcases the unique balance between a very strong IPA and a very special Belgian Tripel exclusively created for this ale (Big malty body, distinct dryness, expressive estery fruitiness). - IBU: 59, Original Gravity: 1092

75cl bottle via trade with 1_2many. Just a really interesting beer that combines a tripel and an IPA perfectly. Hazy, cloudy gold colour with a big white head and sticky lacing.Big fruity hops in the aroma. Flavour is more citrus hops built on a malty backbone and just a hint of tripel spice. 9ABV barely noticeable, which is dangerous with a 750.

Sampled blind at "Better Know a Style: Abbey Tripel" tasting. Chunky and animated white head on slightly hazy pale yellow/gold color. Orange and yeasty aroma that is medium in strength. Alcy flavor with green/red fruit, distinctive yeast, slight oak, very much in the Jolly Pumpkin style, hoppy. Dry medium to full body and creamy. Very nice.

Draft - Hazy lemon golden body with a very creamy white head; Lots of lemony hop aromas, it is actually both very American and very Belgium; Perfect amount of soft carbonation in a soft textured body, balanced moderately bitter; Warm bitter finish that becomes dry with some length, lots of aroma. Very, very pleasant D-IPA.

This one poured a cloudy yellow to orange color with a big whit ehead. Aroma was yeast, spice, and some skunk. Flavor was much like the aroma, subtle spice flavors, some banana, slight bittering hops and seemingly a funky skunky taste. Maybe this got exposed to too much light or somethin but this wasnt too amazing.

Gusher when opened. Cloudy golden appearance with a huge, billowing, long lasting head and beautiful lacing. Aroma is herbal hops, spices, mild citrus, honey and yeast. Multifaceted taste revels in its complexity, from floral, hoppy bitterness, to sweet, bready malts through to an appealing funkiness. Medium-to-full bodied mouthfeel with a high level of carbonation. Funkiness lingered in the finish. Very interesting and thoroughly enjoyable.

I love La Chouffe. I remember the Chouffe room I stayed in in Osteend. This beer is a bit of a twist on the tripel. Fruity with hops.
