Nose is spicy candied ginger and cinnamon, cookie malts. The flavor is intensely malty and spicy, with a nice floral hops underpinning and some honey, some refreshing bitterness. Warming but not unpleasant alcohol towards the finish. Long, lingering, peppery/spicy aftertaste, with yummy hops as well. This is really good. thehipone (197), Australia

The yeast spice fills in perfectly the gap between when the light maltiness fades and the hops kick in. It’s like a top american double IPA blended with a standard tripel. Yeast spiciness complements the aggressive hoppiness very well. Hopefully the other belgian brewers start to experiment like this, if so, it will be a good time to be a beer drinker. Big rocky white head that sticks around, a classic Munich brauhaus pour. Nice herbal, grassy weed aroma . Light/medium body and very smooth. Dry cracker malt taste up front with an incredible sweet spicy mix of west coast and euro hops to finish. very easy drinking, love this one. 1307 Ughsmash (4062), Waukesha, Wisconsin, USA

Poured a hazy golden with a well-retained creamy beige head... just beautiful. Nose was rich and intriguing... rockin’ dried apricots, spiced-up pineapple, herbal hops, and a solid dose of pine hoppage. This was velvety-smooth from the first touch on the lips through the finish... flavors of dried and fresh light fruits, white peppery spices, and fresh, fragrant pine. The hops provide a moderate-high level of bitterness and a fine twist on the tripel style. Alcohol was warming and complimentary to the drink. Fastastic brew! bethmatt0421 (319), Covington, Kentucky, USA
| 4.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 10/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Jan 9, 2009 Pours a pale, and hazy yellow. A thick cloudy white head. Maybe the best beer ive ever smelled with a large floral aroma with a candy sweet touch, sour fruits. Flavor is much the same with an alcohol touch coming through. The marriage of the IPA and tripel turn out to be very well balanced. Not to much bitterness of an IPA, but not the complexity of a true belgian tripel, which makes it all that much more easier to enjoy. A work of art to say the least. thornecb (1802), Marblehead, Massachusetts, USA

Substantial micro-bubble head that continues to grow post-pour into a mountain. Distinctly tripel aromas with slight hop grass notes. Very nice looking. Up front yeasty tripel with a turn to decidedly hoppy, pine/grapefruit bitter finish. Very lively and full. Like nothing else I’ve ever tried -- but I’ll certainly be getting more of this. chicagobears (336), Elk Grove Village, Illinois, USA

The flavor is intense with lemons, earthy, and spices. Reminds me a bit of Duvel with it explosive head and hop varietys. I find this to be very dry and enjoyable. A unique and awesome beer. after4ever (2806), Brier, Washington, USA

Huge white head of fluff that would do a fine job insulating your log cabin--really thick and gloppy head that hangs around and around--almost a Wonka Everlasting Gobstopper. It looks thick and sudsy right away, and picks up fissures as it falls. The fissures and dimples made it look almost like cellulite...just imagine a parallel universe where cellulite is really, really appetizing and you’ll be fine. This bottle, alas, had a whisper of lager-y skunk, especially in the first two glasses we poured (lots of flourescents and exposure at the market). The flavor’s soft, subtle, delicate: mango, cinnamon, nut, nougat. The finish is clean and refreshing. Fantastic beer.
