Clear golden coloured with a massive and lasting egg white head. Nice lacings. Very fizzy/bubbly brew. Floral aroma with notes of citrus fruits, honey, yeast, grass, herbs and sweet pale malt. Bitter and floral flavour with notes of grapefruit, pale malt, yeast and lots of hops. You really can’t taste the 9 % of alcohol. Really well made. Sadly you can’t get this one in Denmark.. hirigalzkar (601), Stockholm, Sweden

Aside from that and the alcohol on the nose, this is truly a perfect abbey tripple. Just outstanding. The head looks like a mass of whipped cream floating atop its brilliant, hazy body. joe1510 (501), Illinois, USA

Dobbelen IPA Tripel pours a slightly hazy straw golden with streams upon streams of tiny carbonation bubbles rising to the surface. The head on this beer is as white as white can get and dense. Leaves that sticky Belgian lacing that’s so pleasing to the eye. Really a fantastic looking brew.
Not really a whole lot of hops in the nose, like I expected, but the aroma is mouthwatering. Pale malts and candi sugar are the first two things that come to mind. There’s a great yeast presence, a little dusty and green. Mild alcohol fumes. Like I said, "mouthwatering".
The hops are in the flavor. Very nice to see. Biscuity malts start things off. The middle is somewhat fruity and sweet. A quick hit of banana bread, so fast it’s hard to tell it’s even there. The candi sugar comes along with the banana. Spicy hops bitterness on the finish, nothing overpowering. Compliments the usual tripel flavors very nicely.
The mouthfeel of this beer is absolutely perfect. Light body from the sugar that turns airy and creamy when it hits the tongue. Lively carbonation really opens up all the flavors. Finishes dry with a mild lingering bitterness.
An enjoyable easy drinker. It’s actually going down way too fast. The body is so light and refreshing it’s hard to stop drinking.
This is one expertly crafted beer. One that I will enjoy over and over again. I’m not sure of the age on this bottle but I’d love to get a fresh one. I’ve been wanting to try this beer for awhile, finally getting around to it it’s even better than expected. Exceptional!

| 4.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 18/20 | Sep 18, 2007 33cl bottle. Pours a hazy gold with a lasting, fluffy, white head that laces nicely. Just a touch of sediment in suspension. I imagine it’s easier to get a "cleaner" pour with the 750ml bottle. On the nose is a nice yeasty Belgian funk backed by citrus and noble hops. Lesser notes of peppery spice and light fruits hide out in the background. Medium-bodied and slick with very fine tongue-coating carbonation and a tight bitter finish. It possesses the dryness of a tripel with the bitter tongue-squeeze of an IPA at the end; quite nice. The flavor is a sweet, citric and yeasty tripel up front and subdued but well balance IPA finishing things off with a nice blend of sweet malt and both citric and earthy hops. This isn’t a west coast "in your face" hoppiness, but it is definitely here in full force. This is a hop-head’s kind of tripel. I happen to be a fan of both tripels and IPAs and would never have thought to blend the two styles. In this brew, however, it definitely works. My compliments to the brewmaster. oberabcbbsok (686), Hoboken, Belgium

It was for me the best new beer at the Zythos beerfestival from 2006. Only to bad that it is rare to find in Belgium. Also drunk on bottle mistersinalin (378), St. Paul, Minnesota, USA

I had just finished my meal and this was a nice hoppy dessert. I enjoyed the melding of Belgian Tripel and IPA. I feel this is a pretty unusual taste and I have a bottle on hand to re-taste this.
