Commercial Description:
A unique marriage between the English tradition of IPAs, the new American revolution of Imperial IPAs and the classic Belgian way of brewing. Houblon Chouffe, although very much hopped as it is, showcases the unique balance between a very strong IPA and a very special Belgian Tripel exclusively created for this ale (Big malty body, distinct dryness, expressive estery fruitiness). - IBU: 59, Original Gravity: 1092

Tried this in the bottle at the Heorot in Muncie, Indiana. Beautiful hazy yellow with a fantastic head--great retention, slowly dissipating into big rocky chunks. Aroma is beautiful too, grassy and spicy with strong yeast, this just begs you to drink it. Nice full-bodied bitter hop taste with orange peel and pepper.

Rating #700. Poured into a La Chouffe glass from a 750. A hazy golden, yellow, orange with a large bubbly/foamy slight off white head that left tons of lacing down the glass. Aroma of various Belgian spices, banana, citrus, floral, orange, grass, pine just a lot going on and my first impression is that I really liked how the aroma on this one turned out. Basically a hoppy LaChouffe. With the flavor the first thing I pick up in the yeast, then into the belgian spices, peppery, some banana, some pilsner qualities and then some hop bitterness in the tail. Pretty much a bitter tripel. As I drank more of this and as it warmed up more I started to get a slight roasty malt in addition to a little bit of the alcohol coming through, although not to the 9% level.

Looks very promising, with a golden hazy body, large rocky head, and dense lacing. Musky, yet fruity & citric aroma, with yeast, vanilla, but most of all, alot of hops. Excellent integration of bready malt and spicy hops in the taste, exceptionally well-balanced. The finish keeps shifting from dry to sweet to fruity to musky, impressive. Quite alot of CO2, but not too much, it carries the body well. This didn’t dissappoint - luckily, as I had to pay loads of cash for a bottle of this stuff (this brew is meant for export to the USA only, so it’ll be very hard to find / very expensive in Europa). Impressive.

Light golden-cloudy color with lots of foam. Very sweet banana-berry with yeasty malt. Taste is very sweet and appetizing. A good overall tripel upfront with some really good hop taste. Man this is good for a tripel! I don’t want to knock the traditonal Belgians, but its nice to find one that has some serious hoppiness! Very unique! The only downside was the fake banana flavor. I like bananas, but this was more like that fake banana candy. Other than that, this one is really, really good.

Very good IPA like Tripel. Strong citrusy and fruity aroma, hoppy. Golden yellow color. Bitter flavor with hoppy frutiness. Balanced with some sweet flavors. Creamy mouthfeel with slightly astringent finish.

Very earthy, bready yeasty, musty aroma. I think this beer is the epitome of balance. Its got fruitiness, spice, a hoppy bitterness, although i think its more of a English hopping, a bit earthy imo. Very light and dry, perfectly carbonated. Alcohol is nowhere to be found. The hops are not as prevalent as described to me, although they fit in nicely. This is just well done all around.

Very individual beer , quite differant fron the rest of the Brasserie d’achouffe beers. Obvious intense hoppy flavour, better chilled , but still a very pleasant tripel/tipple?

Poured from 750ml bottle to a red wine glass. Great white billowing head! One one of the nicest snow white heads I have seen. Very nice golden pale hue. Smell is of saaz hops. The nose was a lot like a fresh czech pilsner. Taste- the hops have really blended in well with the malts. I don’t know the age of this beer, it may in fact have some age on it.Very balanced and absolutely delicious. There is not hint that this is a 9% beer. I have quite a few pints of this, but alas it is my only bottle. I will miss you little gnome! If only I could find you close to home. Very creative offering and an outstanding beer.
