Poured into my Chouffe tulip.
Wow, now this is an interesting beer!
Cloudy golden color, HUGE, i mean HUGE head, that dissipates quite slowly, and leave behind some wonderful lacing. Aroma is very hoppy, lots of citrus, and a tinge of spice. Flavour is again, quite hoppy with lots of lemon, orange, even a hint of lime. A nice spiciness also. Perfect tripel carbonation. Definitely the best of both worlds, i’m getting a equal amount of IPA and Tripel characteristics. Outstanding beer! jehoey (766), Shippensburg, Pennsylvania, USA

Hops were kind of catty, earthy, and dusty, not fresh and citrussy. Poured golden with a tremendous head, that just sat beautifully ontop of the beer. Really beautiful looking. Flavor was less appetizing because it was out of its prime. Kind of catty, with some spicy notes. Mouth feel was very digestible, fine bubbbles and light feeling.

bottle at ABC abbey bar: flavor is initially classic chouffe with lots of pepper and some funk. half way through the hops show up with unique citrus, mango, and spiciness. nice chewy malt bodied in the middle. Quite a synergy of things happening. Very much a tripel with ipa tendancies. excellent mouthfeel, and head retention, that left snowy lace on the glass. I love this beer. Very interesting concept, a Belgain Triple that is hopped like an American IPA, using Amarillo, Tomahawk, and Saaz. We have a winner here. This beer pours to a hazy, golden color, with a thick, creamy, white head, and a lively carbonation. The nose on this beer is excellent with lots of big, fragrant grassy and spicy hop aromas, paired with some earthy yeast aroma. The palate is firm with lots of big flavors of pale malt, good estery fruit, earthy yeast, and a nice back drop of herbal hop flavor. This beer finishes with more good flavors of pale malt, yeast, and spicy flavor, then ends with a big smack of spicy/grassy hop bittereness that lingers. Fantastic beer that just bursts with flavor and character. A wonderful aperitif beer, and would that would match well with a variety of dishes. Well worth trying on draught, and in bottles. winegarner (220), san diego, California, USA
| 4.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 18/20 | May 23, 2006 Poured a pale straw color with a huge fluffy white head that very slowly receded into a rough mountainous white landscape. Aroma is very elegant with the earthy, piney character that is familiar to chouffe beers. There is also a good level of noble hop aroma as well as some light lemon and melon. Flavor is very hoppy and well balanced by a sweet honeyish malt backbone. Lemon is very noticable, like a lemon candy without the sourness. It starts out with a sweet candy full taste and slowly dries into a smooth refreshing bitterness. Exceptional. Skeegle (499), Maryland, USA

WOW this was one of the ultimate crispyness brew ales I’ve had ever so far. That Chouffe yeast must be created from Chuck Norris skin scratchings. Some excellent dry flavors of hops, alcohol, yeast, very dry sugars of lemon and great green bitter hops and hop oil, melded together in an overwhelmingly crisp package with a heavy malt backbone to balance it all out. Fantastic, one of my new favorites at $9/bottle. Damnit. Aromas of citrus. Taste is incredible with a spicy finish. I definitely recommend this beer if you like a golden Belgium IPA. WesKBob (321), Bethany, Oklahoma, USA
| 4.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 18/20 | Jan 3, 2009 An absolutely beautiful beer--looks like a beer commercial with a hazy straw color and a thick, pillow-like white head with excellent retention and lacing. Aroma is light, with hints of citrus and flowery hops. Flavor is slightly sweet, with hints of vanilla, but some hop bitterness in the aftertaste. I like the creativity--they basically took a pretty good Tripel and then added a decent amount of hops to balance out the natural Belgian sweetness. The result is a very clean, crisp taste that lingers on the palate. Just the right amount of hop bite on the back of the throat and masks the ABV well. Very nice. The aroma is full of sweetness but not much hops for an IPA. The color is perfectly golden champagne. I’m so glad they import this delicious, rare Belgian IPA.
