Commercial Description:
A unique marriage between the English tradition of IPAs, the new American revolution of Imperial IPAs and the classic Belgian way of brewing. Houblon Chouffe, although very much hopped as it is, showcases the unique balance between a very strong IPA and a very special Belgian Tripel exclusively created for this ale (Big malty body, distinct dryness, expressive estery fruitiness). - IBU: 59, Original Gravity: 1092

Bottled from Systembolaget Hazy golden with a big, white head. Yeasty rubber-like aroma. Grassy and bitter with dry hoppiness.

Bottle at home - shared with Mette and rest of the party. Cloudy golden - white head. Orange, fruity, peppery, nice hoppy, light yeasty, zesty, bitterness, light sweetness, light alcho-burst. Nice.

Pours a hazy very dark golden ripe banana/yellowish orange color with bright golden yellow hues when held to a light source and a massive three finger frothy, pillowy/soapy white head. Excellent retention, only slowly fading into a large lasting cap that coats the glass with chunks of soapy lacing. Lots of visible carbonation bubbling up. The scent of earthy dank hops filled the room as soon as I removed the cap from the bottle. Although the aroma is dominated by strong earthy oily hops there is a nice bready yeast presence as well as a good bit of estery light fruit notes. Hints of apple, pear and grape as well as some nice citrusy grapefruit, lemon peel and mango from the hops. Slightly grassy and smells like really dank skunk weed. Slight peppery lemon zest spice. Very hop forward medium body with a lot of bready yeast and estery Belgian yeast, proving a lot of crisp light fruit notes. The strong hop presence up front provides an excellent dry bitterness that lingers throughout into a long dry finish. There is also a nice amount of citrus peel and grapefruit from the different hop varieties, providing a lot of complexity. Strong bready yeast character comes through mid-palate with some more citrus peel, ripe banana and peppery spiciness. Lots of estery light fruit notes, especially apple and pear add to the sweetness and the ABV is extremely well masked making this beer dangerously drinkable. There are so many different flavors bouncing off of each other making this beer extremely flavor, complex and quaffable. Highly recommended!

Pours a lacing, bubbly, beige head with a cloudy, dark straw body. Aromas of bubblegum, corn, grain, and toffee. Flavors of grain, corn, bitter cream. Finish is dry, bitter, and corn sweet.

Pours a cloudy pale . Chewiest beer of the night winner. Doughy bread texture and flavor. Dry flour. Lots of gentle hops. Good fruit complexity and balance with the hops. It a winner. Not over the top. Really darn good.

Bottle. Poured a combination of amber and gold with a thick white head. Aroma was a nice combination of citrus hops, yeast, and malts. Flavor began sweet and grainy but hops take over leading to a citrus, bitter finish.

33cl Bottle. Pours a cloudy gold color with large white head that lasts some time. Has a nice aroma: fruity with hops. Smooth taste: sweet with citrus... mild bitter aftertaste. I liked it a lot: smooth with medium complexity that I thought was balanced enough. Without a doubt the best IPA I have had. Would buy again. Does Belgium make a bad beer???
