Commercial Description:
A unique marriage between the English tradition of IPAs, the new American revolution of Imperial IPAs and the classic Belgian way of brewing. Houblon Chouffe, although very much hopped as it is, showcases the unique balance between a very strong IPA and a very special Belgian Tripel exclusively created for this ale (Big malty body, distinct dryness, expressive estery fruitiness). - IBU: 59, Original Gravity: 1092

75cl bottle. Thanks Kevin, I really owe you for all that beer you left me! Hazy, slightly chuncky orange color...massive whipped cream head. Quite carbonated...thick lacing. Big fruity aroma...bananas, oranges, pear, vanilla, hint of alcohol, hint of medicinal phenols...All things blended quite well. Sweetness & alcohol come through right off the bat, with a big mess of hops offering solid bitterness pushing through at the end. Spicy yeast is kicking everything around. I really dig this mix...what a job blending all this together! I’d like it a bit more attenuated, but I’m nitpicking, I’m loving this beer. Complete with this dollup of foam sitting in the middle of the beer until the end of the glass...awesome tangy brew. No doubt, the best thing I’ve ever tasted from Achouffe.

Pours a clear blonde color, with a thick white head that quickly dissipates. It has an aroma that hints of fruits, pale lager and German hops. Its taste is however magnificent. Very lively carbonation, bubbly texture and a lot of screaming hops in the mix. This one has a definite bitter taste that remains during a long finish. Great.

25 and 2/5 ounce bottle, $8.99, from Beverages & More! Fairway. Pours a golden yellow with a large ivory head. Aroma has big hops and Belgian yeast, a little cane sugar as well. Flavor is a very round hoppy tripel. A proper tripel, with a substantial dose of hops as promised. A little sweetness rounds out the flavor and leaves a slightly sweet finish. Smooth mouthfeel as expected, medium viscosity. Perhaps a little overrated in the 3.9 range, but very easy to enjoy by IPA and tripel lovers alike. Overall, good to very good.

Bottle. Attractive clear golden with a thick, billowy white head. Kind of a “dusty” herbal hop aroma, pretty subdued. Flavor is mostly pale malt with ample hop bitterness, perhaps a tinge of Belgian fruity yeast character but not much. Some residual sweetness in there. The hop character is mostly herbal/earthy. I don’t pick up any of the Amarillo or Tomahawk though. medium bodied with a spritzy, lively carbonation. Nice texture. Would like to give this one another try sometime.

Bottle. Pours a clear golden beer with a big white head. The aroma is sweet, yeast, spices and notes of perfume. The flavor is sweet, malt, yeast and hops with citrus and spices. The palate is bitter. Overall a really good beer.

Hazy golden with a dense head. Herbal and citric hops in the aroma combined with yeast. Fresh flavours to begin with - the tripel shines through here: sweet, yeast-like - then the hops kicks in giving the beer a complex IPA-ending. It’s extremely refreshing , and the alcohol is so well hidden it’s scary.

Bottle at BXL cafe: Pours golden with a huge foamy head. To me it tasted more of a Belgian Triple than IPA but whatever it was very tasty. tons of flavor all the place.

An unique twist on Belgians and IPAs! Has the head and body of a Belgian, but with the hop bite of an IPA. Cloudy golden color, with persistent head.
