palate. It has a very sweet smell to it, along with a background scent of spices for some reason. It was cloying and coated my
tongue like cough syrup. Since it was so sweet, it was hard for me to tell if it had any hops bitterness to it. It did have a certain
tang to it at the finish, but nothing to write home about. I might try it again, but until then, I'll try some different bocks. urbnhautebourg (974), Annapolis, Maryland, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Mar 14, 2003 Good heavens, quite a bit of malt here, nearly double bock amounts. Tremendous malt nose and remarkable clarity, but a rather shy head. The malt develops nicely and shows complexity, but a bit more dryness or hop bitterness would be welcome. Not bad at all, really. | 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Feb 17, 2003 Like everyone else said - Not as dark as the photo, but it's pretty good. It has a sweet (but not too sweet), nutty, chocolatey flavor. Almost like a Nut-brown, but not quite. Overall, very nice. I'd definitely buy this again. rich42 (128), USA

| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Aug 31, 2002 Updated: Nov 4, 2003i decided to re-rate this one because i know much more about beer now than i did then. pours a nice redish brown color with a off white head that doesn't last. aroma is malty and a little nutty, with a little bit of sour fruit. malt flavor obviously dominates with a nutty slightly bitter flavor. body is a little thin for a bock but still pretty good. this is a great example of what cincinati beer used to be. I wish it was still made here, but with all the problems that Hudepohl-Schoenling and now Snyder beverage have been having i'm just glad that its still being made. tbookman (618), Ephrata, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 2/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Feb 25, 2002 Somewhat cloudy with a lightly sweet aroma. Not as dark as in the photo here. Very nice heary flavor though. A great tasting bock. Beer Guy99 (250), Maineville, Ohio, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Nov 5, 2001 Rich, hearty bock beer. Sweet and a little winey in flavor - you can definitely taste the alcohol. I enjoy it but it’s lighter than the draft version used to be and not quite as malty and rich either. Still a very enjoyable bock. I’d recommend it to those who love a good bock beer.
