Commercial Description:
No longer a seasonal, you can get this great authentic bock beer in the Christian Moerlein Brewery sampler pack. Rich, malty and full-bodied. It's distinctive and delicious and not at all wimpy. I had this on draft at the Cincinnati Bockfest and it is even better from the keg. I've seen this as far away as Pennsylvania and even Florida! Great, classy beer.

Dark amber color with a cream colored smallish head. Sweet malt , brown sugar, and peat aromas. Sweet malt flavors, but rather thin in feel for all the sweetness and malt in the flavor. Fades in the finish and with a touch too much hops. Do they still have 24 oz. cans of this stuff?

Amber/brownish with aroma of malt, caramel, brown sugar. Tastes malty, with some toffee and sweet brown sugar finishing flavors. Not bad.

Red-amber with a thin head. Mild aroma and quiet sugar-alcohol malt flavors.

A nice mild bock - not as strong as the average bock but has a very nice flavor - a bit sweet but that’s what I expect from a bock. Hops flavor comes through.

Thanks to gerdy555 for the trade. Pours a dark reddish-amber with a very thin and shortlived beige head. Very thin and quick lacing. The aroma is kind of malty with a hint of fruit. Medium-bodied with an ongoing mild malt flavor, backed up by some fruit (sour apple mostly) and caramel. The lingering finish is fruity and lightly hoppy. Overall this is an average Bock.

Didn’t like this one too much; maybe I got a bad bottle? I found it to be a little sticky, kinda smoky, and a little cloying. Thought it also had a somewhat disturbing, ’medicinal’ quality. Seemed not very well-rounded also, yet still drinkable.

This particular Christian Moerlein brew was available in the sampler 12-pack back during the Hudepohl days. The last time I had this beer was probably in 2001. I recently contacted Christian Moerlein and sadly they have no current plans to make this beer again. Here is what I remember about this beer... It poured a very dark brown color with a creamy beige head. The aroma was sweet and malty as was the flavor. There was a moderate bitterness, but not as pronounced as it is in the current Christian Moerlein Doppelbock. The alcohol was just slightly noticeable, but added to the overall experience of this beer. This was one of my favorite Christian Moerlein offerings at the time and I distinctly remember my roommate at the time and I fighting over the last bottle (we usually split the mix pack, buy there were 3 of 4 different beers so the 3rd one of each was a toss up between us!). This bock was good, but I think that the current Christian Moerlein Doppelbock is better...

Nice head somewhat long lasting almost 20 seconds lol but thats cool, aroma was definately sweet and malty malty being an under statement malty as hell would fit much better flavor is sweet malty with just some slight very slight hoppiness to it with a slightly sweet malty aftertaste in my opinion this is a little weak but a very well balanced bock that deserves another try to make sure i'm not just typing this with to much of a buzz going.
