Commercial Description:
Christian Moerlein Doppelbock is brewed in accordance with Germany's Reinheitsgebot Purity Law of 1516. What makes Doppelbock most enjoyable is its rich, full body, which is superbly balanced for smoothness. It will be appreciated for its robust malt and carmel characteristics. Enjoy its smooth, velvety taste and you will agree that it is Quite Simply a Better Doppelbock.

I agree with last reviewer, ’pretty decent’. I’ve heard less than flattering things about the offerings from Chistian Morelein but I"m impressed with this dopplebock. Rich, smooth, roasted malty taste. Yes, nice job.

(Bottle via trade with <A HREF=http://www.ratebeer.com/ViewUser.asp?UserID=3 target=blank>shigadeyo, thanks Craig!) Pretty decent...Pours dark orangish brown or auburn, whatever it’s called. One finger of biscuit head melts away to a thin layer. Nose is caramel, brown sugar, sourdough bread and a bit of pine. Mouthfeel medium-full, a touch pebbly. Very lightly syrupy. Nice webby, curtainy lacing. Flavor is lightly sweet and malty - brown sugar, caramel and toffee. Lightly bready. Light bitter piney hit through finish. Kind of a light duty but well done doppel.

Sampled as part of a summer 12 pack. Pours very nice with a dark hue and a nice thin head. Flavor is pretty nice and alcohol content is high for a traditonal summer brew. A good brew overall.

Bottle. Reddish clear brown colour with a little head. Sweet aroma of malt and hints of caramel. Flavour of malt, caramel and a warm alcohol feeling. Ends up smooth and light.

Bottle from BevMo. Dark ruby coloring upon pouring. Sweet malty aroma. Sweet roasted malty flavors. Full flavored with many of the qualities I like about bocks. Sweetness, roasted maltiness and a biting finish. THe best I’ve had from Lion by quite a bit.

(Bottle 35,5 cl) Hazy, orangey brown with a rough, off-white head. Lovely concentrated aroma of roasted malt. Quite full-bodied with lots of sweetish, roasted malt - almost nutty. Very subdued bitterness. A real treat for a malthead - lovely. 310507

Bottled. A dark amber beer with a thin tan head. The aroma is sweet malty with notes of caramel, while the flavor is more complex, being sweet malty with notes of caramel and lighter notes of brown sugar and wood.

Bottled. Amber coloured. Unclear. Dense off white head. Sweetness, fruits and alcohol dominates the aroma. Some vague caramel notes. Flavour of caramel, sweetness, light alchol and vague fruits. Is medium bodied. Quite dry. Fruity and light spiced end.
