Commercial Description:
Christian Moerlein Hefeweizen is a traditional German-styled cloudy wheat beer with a balanced flavor of fruit, clove and other spices. "hefe" means yeast, and "weizen" means wheat. Serve it with a slice of lemon or orange to accent the flavor of fruit for a crisp and refreshing experience. Compare its flavor and quality to any craft or imported wheat beer and you will agree that Cristian Moerlein Hefeweizen is Quite Simply a Better Wheat Beer.

(Bottle 35,5 cl) Pours a hazy, dark amber with an off-white head. Vague aroma of yeast and perhaps a whiff of banana. Full-bodied and rather sweet with some accents of overripe fruit and some sulphur in the finish. Not your typical Hefe. 070406

(12oz bottle) Minimal head atop a clear apple juice body. Aroma is medium sweet, banana, bubblegum. Taste is medium sweet, banana, bubblegum, faint clove. Low carbonation, light body, no crispness.

Bottle... Hazy, yellow ale with a small, fizzy, white head. The citrusy aroma is full of spice, banana and light smoke. Malty flavor with good balance. Spicy and lemony without being overdone with hefe yeast. Medium-bodied and creamy with moderate carbonation.. Malty, sweet, lightly spicy finish. Not a favorite style of mine, but a damn fine brew nonetheless.

Has a color of faint yellow lemonade, and is only slightly hazy, so light that at first glance you might think it was filtered and clear. Chemically strong nose full of acetone, moldy grains and lightly sweet lemons. Very oily and slick texture, extremely ’slippery’ and lacking really any hop character at all. Overly sweet, a simple beer that at times tastes like candy, and most importantly has no German hefeweizen qualities what-so-ever. A poor attempt of a beer, and a poor attempt at trying to mimmick the "Gordon Biersch" logo and label design.

Bottle sampled at Allyn’s Cafe Moerlein tasting. Poured hazy golden with an average fizzy white head that diminished slowly with good lacing. Moderate banana wheat aroma. Medium body with a sticky texture. Medium sweet banana flavor with a medium sweet finish of moderate duration. I would recommend this to a freind.

Aroma of banana and yeast, with a hint of spice. Hazy gold color with a moderate white head. Starts with that hefe spicy banana, moves to spice, moves to banana, kind of stays with banana. I think it’s a victim of too little ingredients. Lion has a tendency that way (my opinion). Still beats the heck out of most AB products. This just should not be parading as a a craft beer. Otherwise not so bad.

This bottled brew from a bottle shop poured a small sized head of finely sized white colored bubbles that were mostly lasting and left behind a very hazy light orange brown colored body and a poor lacing. The mild aroma was malty with yeasty notes. The mouth feel was tingly at the start and at the finish. The flavor contained notes of malt and yeast. A decent one but not one that I would consider buying again.

Bottle. Small white creamy, smooth, milky head that fully diminished, no lacing, no visible carbonation, cloudy, and a golden hue. Nose was that of bananas, spicy, clove. Ditto for the flavor with a little bit of sweetness added in. Tingy mouthfeel. Light body. So-so but there are much better ones out there of this style.
