Light in body, just as a Kolsch should be, but there are many delicate hidden flavors that come out of this beer as you work your way through a glass of it, especially if you allow it to get slightly warmer than ice cold. The Kolsch style is getting more popular in the U.S. and it offers many of the advantages of a flavorful all-malt craft beer but in a light, easy to drink style that rivals light lager for year ’round drinkability. Everyone I know who has tried the Christian Moerlein Kolsch has really enjoyed it. It’s a nice hoppier alternative to their malty Select Lager. bwilson (14), Chicago, Illinois, USA

| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 16/20 | Jan 1, 2004 Light orange with a bright, big airy head that went away quickly. Crisp and light, not so Kolschy but lightly fruity and malty, a decent light ale. shrubber85 (2911), Wallhalben, Germany

This beer pours a lightly hazy orange/gold color with a very thin eggshell white head. Thin lacing as well. The aroma is citrusy, with some malt and vanilla in the background. Light-bodied and rather crisp, with a tasty combination of citrus (lemon), hops, malt and vanilla again. The finish is tart fruit. Overall this is a nicely drinkable Kolsch from Moerlein.
