I do get some nuttiness; I never would have thought of that without BennyTicklez’ mentioning it. Reasonable bitterness. Medium/light bodied. Not too bad, especially for the price. | 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Jan 24, 2005 Coppery/ruby pour, with typical marzen aromas of caramel malt, toffee, and slight fruit. Somewhat light on the palate, and lacking complexity. Not horrible, just not re-drinkable for me. Dogbrick (2864), Columbus, Ohio, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Jan 6, 2005 Who is this guy that makes a living posing for every Oktoberfest beer label? He has to be rich by now. This beer started out pretty well, but unfortunately went downhill in the course of a mere 7 ounces. Pours a nice ruddy dark amber color with a medium beige head and thin lacing. Malty aroma with a bit of nuts. Medium bodied, with a nice sweet malt flavor to start, but the hoppy side becomes more and more assertive so that by the end of the small glass the flavor profile has completely flipped. The finish is lightly bitter and roasty. Not really bad but inconsistent. sbrewno (49), Frankfort, Illinois, USA
| 1.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 1/20 | Dec 12, 2004 7oz bottle. Clear, reddish look. Tall head fades to reveal lots of lace. Smells better than it tastes. Thin, sweet, under-carbonated, but this is an OF. Would not bother with this one again. thehinge (245), Wilmington, Delaware, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 3/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Nov 20, 2004 Found the aroma kinda lacking....smells like bad corn. Appearance is a dark amber color....head was a light tan and hung around for a few minutes. Very crisp taste...kinda reminded me of almonds. sfontain (506), Columbus, Ohio, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Nov 6, 2004 7 oz. bottle. Lovely dark amber with a small, white head. Aroma is big and eveloping, with lots of malt and caramel with some slight alcohol astrigency. Flavor is a bit off-putting; lots of malts and caramel, but unfortunately something offensive is also in here, and I think it’s the alcohol, which is disappointing because this doesn’t have any warmth of a high-alcohol beer (although I don’t have the numbers); it may just be that there are far, far too much hops for the style. Medium-bodied and sticky. Different; not bad. igneous1 (1374), Davenport, Iowa, USA
