Bottle. Thanks shigadeyo! Pours a clear dark amber with a fading tan head. Big aroma of toffee, figs. Medium-light body that goes a bit watery in places, and medium carbonation. The taste seems a bit small by comparison to the aroma, but there are some caramel and nutty notes. Dry finish with some tobacco and a tiny hint of pine.

Poured a clear deep copper-brown color with a thin off-white head. Malty chocolate and fig aroma. The aroma was sweet and fruity. The flavor contained some dried fruity notes. Malty with a clean finish.

This bottled brew from a bottle shop poured a medium sized head of foamy fine to medium sized tan colored bubbles that were long lasting and left behind a transparent typically carbonated brown colored body and a good lacing. The aroma was brown malt and sweet. The mouth feel was tingly at the start and at the finish. The flavor contained notes of sweet and brown malt. A decent one that I would consider buying again.

Now this is what a beer should look like. Dark and clear with a thick tan head that lingers throughout. Malty aroma, with a bit of grain. Hearty, and rich, with a significant malt flavor.

12 oz bottle via shigadeyo (thanks!).Pours a dark reddish brown with a large but quickly dissipating head. Nose is toasted malts, toffee, hazleuts, and figs. Taste is the same a bit biscuity and a litle chocolate as well. Very smooth, balanced and easy to drink. Plesantly surprised by this!

Bottle. Small ivory head that mostly diminished, sparse lacing, transparent, visible carbonation, and a ruby hue. Nose was malty, roasty, caramel and a hint of smokiness. Ditto for the flavor along with a thin flavor. Tingly mouthfeel. Light body. Just so-so.

Christian Moerlein Select Dunkel is a dark amber color with a light brown veil. Mild carbonation. Aroma is malt and tobacco. Flavor is caramel malt, a little nutty, and some chocolate and tobacco complexities. It finishes with a slight bitterness to balance the sweet malt. Lingering taste is like unrefined dark maple syrup. Medium body and very drinkable. The finish might be a touch watery though. The exception that should be an example: this is a fresh and bold take on a traditional German style. Poured a dark, burnt red. Chocolate and pumpernickle in the body. How much you like the quick fade here is really depending on your mood. I though am aware that Beers disappear, like years and women, and really dont mind it.
