Commercial Description:
Select Dunkel is a traditional German styled dark lager, brewed in accordance with Germany's RheinheitsgebotPurity Law of 1516. What makes Select Dunkel distinctive is its smooth refreshing drinkable flavor and its clean finish. We think you'll agree that Christian Moerlein Select Dunkel is quite simply a better dark beer.

Good malty aroma with the dark caramel dominating. Dark mahagony brown in color with a light tan head. Nice malt flavors with a good medium to slightly full body. Beer has a slightly bitter finish to it that compliments the malt well. Reminds me of a lighter version of their well made doppelbock. A good example of a German style Dunkel.

Clear mahogany appearance with a small, khaki colored head and light lacing. Aroma and taste head down the path highlighted by caramel malts and their accompanying requiste sweetness. Light-to-medium bodied mouthfeel with moderate carbonation. Slightly sweet, medium length finish.

Small offwhite head thats short lived, lace is minimal. Attractive chestnut colored brew, good clarity. Dry malt nose, faint grainess. Body is light, sorta watery. Dry malty flavors, chocolate with a slight sourness. Finish is dry, chalky and quick.

Thanks go out to slob for giving me the opportunity to add a rating to the few that have been given so far for this beer! Huge frothy head over a clear brown body. Sourdough yeasty aroma over the malts. The flavor is well balanced just lacking in a bit of intensity to really take charge. Light body that is a bit thin.

Bottle... Deep, clear copper lager with a large, frothy, off-white head. Excellent, creamy retention. The nose and flavor are of chocolate, caramel malt, aluminum and very light maple syrup. Medium-bodied and watery with lively carbonation. Finishes clean, but thin.
