mgermani (862), Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada May 3, 2007 Pours a dark reddish-brown with a momentary head and no lace. Aroma of sweet malt and dark... meat? Has a faint taste that reminds me of the juice from a medium-rare steak, along with a sweetness otherwise well-balanced with nice tart hops. Lingering but faint finish, thin body, and low carb. This would be an excellent beer with a bit more head, alongside a steak or beef stew. Otherwise sadly lacking. Maria (6056), Thisted, Denmark May 1, 2007 The head is nice on this dark mahogany red beer. The aroma made me curious because I expected something boring. But is has a nice, full and malty aroma with fruity notes. The flavour is full, round and has notes of harvest fruits, caramel and light sweetness, and the hops are there from beginning to end. A nice surprise. gnoff (3560), Göteborg, Sweden Apr 30, 2007 (Sampled draught at Cafe Kabörk, Köpenhamn, Denmark) Nice red color, white to tag head. Acidic scent, rather acidic to sour taste. Not really my style, and wouldnt call it a Vienna for sure. Spritzy mouthfeel, low bitterness. kkearn (994), Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA Apr 29, 2007 11.2oz flip top bottle. Hazy dark amber, with minimal white head. Sweet malty aroma with raisin and honey notes. Sweet caramel malt flavor. Very bready. Easy to drink. MrManning (1634), London, Ontario, Canada Apr 29, 2007 Pours deep amber with a frothed up, beige head. Nutty hopped up aroma, some bread, spicy malts. FLavour profile matches the aroma as far as the nuttiness goes. Very malty, pretty sweet, like a sweet brown ale. Good carbo. marchcow (664), Coralville, Iowa, USA Apr 20, 2007 Citrus and malt aroma with a slight nuttiness. Almost no head to speak of. Deep amber color. Flavor is malty with a light developing yeastiness. Roasted sweetness that develops into a mild bitterness at the end. Mouth is mildly creamy. Somewhat flat. Flavor is good. SHIG (2012), Aviano, Italy Apr 13, 2007 Bottle: Dark hazy reddish brown. The aroma is sweet malty with a hint of nuts. The flavor is sweet malt also with a roasted nut. blueduk (118), Eugene, Oregon, USA Mar 11, 2007 Pours a hazy, cloudy (unfiltered) burnt orange-brown. Off white head recedes rapidly.
Aromas of fruity malts, caramel, toffee, tootsie roll, oranges, nuts.
