frink (467), coquitlam, British Columbia, Canada May 20, 2005 Pours a rich looking reddish brown colour with a lively tan head. The aromas are of thick malts, nutty, kind of sweet smelling as well. The was well balanced with sweet malts and bittering hops playing off each other quite well also noted was a slight sourness, nuttiness and brisk carbonation. A nice brew. Malakin (465), Victoria, British Columbia, Canada May 16, 2005 Copper color, metallic aroma. Tastes fairly commercial but there’s some malty toffee flavour in there. Very overrated, maybe it used to be better. Indra (2018), Prairie Village, Kansas, USA May 15, 2005 33cl bottle, decanted into a Christoffel glass. Malty, sweet aroma, some dark caramel and raisin along with lighter notes of plum and cherry. Lightly hazy garnet in color with a light tan, subsiding head. Flavor profile is sugary and fruity as well, plenty of sweetness from beginning to end along with some faintly toasty nuttiness and grapey tones, there is also a subtle yeast presence and milky chocolate character for the finish. Medium bodied with a smooth palate. Interesting and flavorful take on the style. Hooker (450), New Westminster, British Columbia, Canada May 11, 2005 Clear reddish copper colour with thin lingering frothy light tan head. Sour malt nose slightly perfumey. Perfumey malt taste with lingering floral finish. JoeMcPhee (4893), Jackson Heights, New York, USA May 8, 2005 Deep copper coloured beer with a thick pale yellow head. Nutty and malty aroma with a noticable noble hop aroma as well. Flavour is well balance with strong bready and toasty malt accented beer. Light nuttiness in the finish. Well done. BitchesBrew (710), Berkeley, California, USA May 3, 2005 Updated: Jan 7, 2006A very nice, smooth beer.. I like the Robertus better than the Blonde. This one is darker, closer to a nut brown. RichardGretton (3131), Leicestershire, England May 1, 2005 Bottled. Brown beer with a fruity nose and a fruity and quite strong flavour. Overall a good beer. tiggmtl (4307), Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada Apr 3, 2005 Strong, floral, perfumey hop nose somewhat overshadows toasty Vienna malt. Aroma also displays strong pineapple, orange fruity esters that while not unpleasant, seem out of place in a lager. Very cloudy amber-brown with decent, off-white head that laces well. Soft, toasty malt character up front with a fair bitterness in the dry finish. Fruity esters are less apparent though still notable in the flavour. Medium body with smooth texture and moderate carbonation that engages the tongue. Never overtly sweet or cloying. Overall a (very) good beer though the fruitiness seems misplaced and distracting. Lager glass, just above fridge temp. Bottle (Half Time, Mar. 2005).
