cb (809), Wheat Ridge, Colorado, USA Jun 22, 2004 I don’t understand why this beer is rated so low. It is dead-on for the style. I didn’t think it was overly hoppy -- maybe the hops used were brighter than ones in most Viennas. Bready yet bright malt texture and texture. Syd (888), Waconia, Minnesota, USA Jun 1, 2004 Bottle pours a hazy red brown with a smallish head and some lace. The aroma is mild caramel and slightly spicy. The flavor is of caramel and some hops. Overall, this one is different, but drinks pretty well. turbothy (717), Bonn, Germany May 29, 2004 Decent taste, but a little too much on the sweet side. Looks great, and comes in quaint little patent bottles. wunderbier (1264), Tampere, Finland May 16, 2004 Caramel, nutty malt (M); herbish hops (L); hints of prune and apricot? Deep red body with a small, off-white head. Moderately sweet, lightly acidic flavor becomes a moderately bitter, lightly acidic finish. There’s a fruity assertiveness on the tip of the tounge (marishino cherries). Husky finish. Medium body, water texture, lively carbonation. The bottom line is: odd that a Vienna should taste like it has fruit in it...whatever, I’m not strict about styles... mdi (573), Nebraska, USA May 13, 2004 Gorgeous brunette w/ rapidly dying head, my glass may have been wet. Not as big of a saaz aroma as the blond, did they even use saaz in this one?? Malt makes more of an impression here than the blond, hops still make an impact, reminds me of a slightly more hoppy O-fest, now on this site I see it is listed as Vienna. I’d like a bit more maltiness though, a bit dissapointing directly following the blond. Jeppe (2638), Ølbutikken, Denmark May 11, 2004 Medium head, hazy amber body. Aroma is sweet fruity and malty with toffee undertones. Flavor is also sweet fruity and malty with a somewhat strange eartly tone. An OK beer without beeing great! TAR (2087), Boulder Co., Colorado, USA May 10, 2004 Updated: Dec 6, 2004Unfiltered watermelon. Sticky, fluffy off-white head. Candied malt aroma laced with spicy hops and cedar. Slightly phenolic with hints of nutty yeast, mineral, and roast. Quite round and fruity. Soft body. Fuzzy carbonation. Spicy hop character lurks beneath the tangy malts at first sip. Malts become fuller, midway, balanced by a continual cedary wood and spicy rye character. Herbal hop backdrop, along with plenty of dryness, complements the roasted, sweet bready malt overlay at the finish with lighter traces of unsweetened chocolate, woody malts, and honeydew. Lingering rose petals and roasted malts. Although it doesn’t hold a candle to their Pils, this is a quaffable, yet satisfyingly malty Vienna. harlequinn (2745), Tacoma, Washington, USA May 8, 2004 This was like eating a loaf of dark bread. Lots of malt with a sweetness in the aftertaste. Easy to drink, but really there is not too much to say about this one.
