Commercial Description:
Christoffel Robertus is a low-fermenting ruby-red beer, brewed in the Münchener-style. It is a malty, fresh beer with a light sweetness. The typical hopbitterness found in Blond, is very lightly present in Robertus. The use of an extensive amount of selected barley gives Robertus the special malty taste and aroma.

This was like eating a loaf of dark bread. Lots of malt with a sweetness in the aftertaste. Easy to drink, but really there is not too much to say about this one.

Bottle. A medium sized vanilla head with fine-medium sized bubbles that were mostly lasting. The body was carbonated, cloudy and the hue was copper. The aroma was malty, sweet, some earth and ashy notes. The flavor was slightly bitter tasting, malty, hoppy and there was an aftertaste. The mouthfeel was tingly and the lacing was very sparse.

This bottle bottle with a flippy top poured a large head of foamy large mostly lasting light brown colored head that left behind a thick fair lacing. The body was a cloudy thick looking brown color with no visible carbonation. The aroma was nice thick and heavy with brown malts and slightly musty odor. The mouthfeel is slightly vinuous and slightly astringent with a smooth overal feel to it. The flavor contains notes of sweet brown malts with a hint of raisin in it.

Strange head that only covered half of the glass for the entire beer. A bright amber coloring. Aroma has oak and caramel. The taste is grass, barley and a little touch of chocolate. Overall, this is fairly light in both smell and taste.

My first vienna, so I was a little bit unsure of what to expect. Very malty aroma and body. Hops are balanced nicely with a subtle sweetness. Finish is a bit funky though. It almost tastes a little sour. Overall not bad.

(on bottle) "Oh my, here we again with the strong, way too sweet, way too alcohol fattend barley wines" was actually my first thought. A Vienna??! Served from a small 33ml. bottle, this beer allmost had me for good. It´s rich in every aspect of the malts, hops, dried fruit-and-chocolate-tastes and has very dominat alcohol sharpness to it. Overload on every front is not allways a good thing. EXTRA. Having a pub with a restaurant, my chef found out that this beer is very good for making sauces, no overwhelming bitterness at all, just round malts and fresh hops.

Dark copper body and a nice ecru head. The aroma is a touch ashy yet with a hint of sweetness. The carbonation is a little much for me, but the finish has a nice bite to it with some hops. The flavor is a little thin, though.
