Commercial Description:
Christoffel Robertus is a low-fermenting ruby-red beer, brewed in the Münchener-style. It is a malty, fresh beer with a light sweetness. The typical hopbitterness found in Blond, is very lightly present in Robertus. The use of an extensive amount of selected barley gives Robertus the special malty taste and aroma.

After having the blond, and being horribly disappointed in it I was not sure what to think of this one. Sampled from a rather nice 11.2 oz brown bottle this beer poured a dark caramel color with a medium sized tan head. The beer is very heavily carbonated. The aroma is fairly faint but has light elements of ripe fruit and molasses. The flavor is bitter with a hint of molasses and ripe fruit and a moderate brown sugar element. The finish is tangy. The overall flavor is pleasant but rather subdued. This is not a particularly remarkable beer. But at least it was not crap like the blond.

Murky reddish brown colour. Smell is a little sour, almost spritzy, peaches. Fizzy, sour feel in the mouth. Pretty smooth finish.

Bottle 2 litres, at home. Redbrown with off-shite head, quickly disappearing. Aroma and taste of malt, brown sugar, light fruity. Light bitter. All in all to sweet.

Deep shiny red with an orange core. Nose spicy and fruity, lots of orange and sugars. Nice taste, punchy and fruity, orange, pineapple, and other citrus give a nice brightness. Somewhat spicy. Bit bready, more sweetness, not traditional Vienna caramel, but still quite pleasing. A mite oversweet, but good stuff.

Reddish brown, moderate head, decent lacing and retention. Aroma is grassy hops with notes of caramel and some darker fruits. Soft mouthfeel, very well balanced and enjoyable. May not have big flavors, but everything here is put together really well.

11.2 oz swing top. Hazy brown with a tan head. Nose is nutty toffee and light chocolate, some light orange citrus hop. Flavor is lightly hazelnut, medium malt, some cookie flavors. Drier than expected finish, muted bitter citrus finish.
