Commercial Description:
Christoffel Robertus is a low-fermenting ruby-red beer, brewed in the Münchener-style. It is a malty, fresh beer with a light sweetness. The typical hopbitterness found in Blond, is very lightly present in Robertus. The use of an extensive amount of selected barley gives Robertus the special malty taste and aroma.

A towering creamt light tan head is formed on top of a murky red-brown body. The aroma is full of nutmeg, sweetnees, and some white toast. The flavor is more fruity with the spiciness taking a back seat. The bready toast is still present as is some light caramel. Toffee really comes out after the swallow. Very soft palate, medium body. Quite nice.

11.2oz flip top, notched @ 02 2005. Pours a clear orange brown with a small beige head. Aroma is predominately funky sour cherries and a small amount of vinegar. There is also a little bit of sweet caramel, but not much. I’ve not had many Viennas, but this doesn’t seem like one to me. Flavor has more earthy caramel, light toffee with no vinegar. The fruity tart cherries have been toned back a bit, thankfully. I dare say this is sweet! Very low bitterness with just a little sweetness in the finish. Medium body with soft prickly carbonation. This turned out better than I’d though it would have. As I look at reviews I see there are Vienna Sours, of which this would be my first one, so it gets a little bit better points in a couple categories.

Swing top bottle. Pour is a brown with a average white head. Aroma is deffinatly super sweet malts with some brown sugar added. Flavor is a let down. Very weak. Some sweet malts but nothing that compares to the aroma. A just ok beer but it did come with a glass and some coasters.

Clear copper color with a frothy head. Decent caramel, biscuit malt smell. Medium body. Weak taste of caramel malts with a sourness i can best describe as the flavor of cold, wet, stale oatmeal. Wow, the first beer in years that i couldn’t finish. 2137

A bit o’ caramel malt, and nutmeg, and slightly flower petal hop (delicate and with turned earth reality all at the same time), this is a great vienna. Slightly thin, though still a bit oily and clearly in style (and boatloads better than most Viennas) - in fact, the maltiness here is very traditional, less agressively hopped than some of the high-scoring American versions (which I love).

Shared this one w/ SkyCop32. Picked up at Maruhn Getränke in Darmstadt. Pours a darkish orange/amber color. Aromas of roast malts/caramel, sweet smelling. Sweet flavors of caramel with some hops/fruit.

330 ml bottle. Golden, clear body with a white head. Discreet aroma. Flavor is sweet and malty, some hops, and some caramel. Nothing really wrong here, but not exactly my type of beer. A bit boring.
