Commercial Description:
Christoffel Robertus is a low-fermenting ruby-red beer, brewed in the Münchener-style. It is a malty, fresh beer with a light sweetness. The typical hopbitterness found in Blond, is very lightly present in Robertus. The use of an extensive amount of selected barley gives Robertus the special malty taste and aroma.

Pours a rich copper brown with a thick, puffy, light tan head. Very musky Belgian malty aroma with some stale bittering hops and a touch of tartness. Body starts with a mild caramel sweetness, turning drier and smoother toward the finish. Flavors are quite subdued, but it goes down crisp and hides its alcohol well. A decent Vienna.

from crackedkettle.com - hazy dark red-amber colour, the foam vanishes very quickly; aroma of blueberries and raspberries; a solid carbonation supports a medium malt body; quite sweet with a light bitterness; the finish shows quite a lot of residual sweetness with more notes of red fruits

Interesting beer i though, had a nice appearance (slightly red with a nice head), slightly sweet and sour on the tongue, bit of fruit in there aswell, but a bit syruppy and sticky at times. Pretty good though.

Thin brownish head, fine-bubbled, fast gone; over hazy beer with mahogany colour. Dark malts, as well as dark candi or even molasses, which seems strange for a Vienna elaborated by a Weihenstephaner disciple. Bit grassy as well, earthy. Bread taste, reassuringly German, with quite herbal notes, as a wild herb plucked fresh. Nettles? Finishes burnt-caramelised bitterish (long). Light to medium bodied, quite carbonated MF. Good Vienna, despite nose. Worthy of Leo Brand’s principles. A style I can dig.

Copper colour, not that strong an aroma. Shortlived head and a medium body.

Good looking reddish colour. Lots of Vienna malt in the aroma and in the flavour. It has a nice mild caramel touch as well. Good body.

Flip-top bottle (33cl): Ruby-amber coloured, hazy, quickly vanishing off-white layer; sweetish caramelly, a bit toasted nose with a bigger touch of ripe fruit (strawberry fields forever..?); sweet flavour not witout a detectable bitterness, medium bodied; fruity-malty, slightly bitter finish. O.K., very good by dutch standards........
