Commercial Description:
Christoffel Robertus is a low-fermenting ruby-red beer, brewed in the Münchener-style. It is a malty, fresh beer with a light sweetness. The typical hopbitterness found in Blond, is very lightly present in Robertus. The use of an extensive amount of selected barley gives Robertus the special malty taste and aroma.

Tap at ‘t Arendsnest. Hazy dark amber color with a creamy tan head. Dark fruit aroma with a hint of something more. Fruity, slightly sour beer. Finishes a bit roasted caramel. Medium body with medium carbonation. Preferred the blonde.

Strange head that only covered half of the glass for the entire beer. A bright amber coloring. Aroma has oak and caramel. The taste is grass, barley and a little touch of chocolate. Overall, this is fairly light in both smell and taste.

Strong, floral, perfumey hop nose somewhat overshadows toasty Vienna malt. Aroma also displays strong pineapple, orange fruity esters that while not unpleasant, seem out of place in a lager. Very cloudy amber-brown with decent, off-white head that laces well. Soft, toasty malt character up front with a fair bitterness in the dry finish. Fruity esters are less apparent though still notable in the flavour. Medium body with smooth texture and moderate carbonation that engages the tongue. Never overtly sweet or cloying. Overall a (very) good beer though the fruitiness seems misplaced and distracting. Lager glass, just above fridge temp. Bottle (Half Time, Mar. 2005).

Somewhat deep reddish auburn pour with a short well-retained head. Quite a bit of sediment in there. Spices, caramel, and darker fruits provided a very nice aroma. Flavor followed the aroma well, with a nice spicy bouquet on the finish and some bread. Very fine brew.

Very nice soft aroma, quiet special, flowery but not pushy, there is some herbal element in it. It was so nice that I could not stop my self from drinking immediately. Flavour as often is not matching the qualities of aroma. Yes it was decent a bit earthy, dark bitterness with roasted set of malts. It feels like they use more than one, much different ingredients that makes interesting effect on aftertaste.

This Vienna pours a deep brown color from a 330ml flip-top bottle. Medium sized white foamy head. Aroma is malty and sweet, salty and smoky. A medium bodied Vienna. Malts are caramel and sweet, somewhat smoky and salty. Not quite ham like but close. Hops are floral and earthy. Touch of honey at the finish. Strange beer, its smoky, salty and sweet. Mouthfeel is full. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is slightly sweet.
