| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jun 14, 2006 Wow, what a coincidence. Murph and I were just discussing 6-9-06, and I see that this one has a 69 overall score. Bottle from Super Saver. The pour is a nice deep brown with a 2-finger khaki head. Aromas of heavy corn flakes greet the nose, with some hazelnuts, grapey fruits, and a lot of brown sugar and cacao notes. The palate is not real complex, and a bit of a letdown after the great look and smell, with flavor hints of tart grapey fruit, some cereally malt, and some cacao, nuts, and brown sugar hints. | 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | May 1, 2007 The head is nice on this dark mahogany red beer. The aroma made me curious because I expected something boring. But is has a nice, full and malty aroma with fruity notes. The flavour is full, round and has notes of harvest fruits, caramel and light sweetness, and the hops are there from beginning to end. A nice surprise. MoritzF (4985), Bochum, Germany

Sweet caramel-malt aroma, a little plummy fruit. Mostly caramel in this approachably sweet palate, maybe some stewed prunes. Nothing cloying-- very well-balanced. Excellent. thornecb (1791), Marblehead, Massachusetts, USA
