Aroma of caramel and herbal hops, with some light signs of oxidation. In mouth, a rather sweet pruney malt, with light nuttyness and some crispyness. Hops come later, herbal in character. Some light alcohol warmth. Medium bodied, but a bit cloying. BB B/02/2006 (?). DukeofYork (44), Toronto, Ontario, Canada

The flavour is quite complex, with fruity traces (apricot, peach, apple, orange peels) and sour hints (citrus). The finish is hoppy. A pleasant beer, good even for the summer season. The incredible fiery red colour hinted at the maltiness of this one. Clear, with decent head retention. Aroma is mostly toasty, spicy, decocted malt with a bit of weird clove. Quite light-bodied but with a really nice, subtle malt character and there’s a light acidity (wouldn’t describe it as "tart" or "sour") which makes it interesting. Good stuff - seems like it’d really endear itself to me if I were to have a session on it. RR: Weird. It has all the nice hoppy, yeasty aroma that the Blond should have, but I just can’t get over the fact that it’s thin. Lacks malt, tastes adjuncty even. Still nice, but not particularly great. The flavour was full of fruit: I tasted cherry with a bit of raisin. Raisin in the aroma. It was fun to open the huge bottle and share with friends. JanEric (217), Meppel, Netherlands

When drinking a smooth feeling turns up, the malt, alcohol are harmonious. Is’s a bit yeasty, smooth finish, not dry. A good balanced beer.
