Commercial Description:
Christoffel Robertus is a low-fermenting ruby-red beer, brewed in the Münchener-style. It is a malty, fresh beer with a light sweetness. The typical hopbitterness found in Blond, is very lightly present in Robertus. The use of an extensive amount of selected barley gives Robertus the special malty taste and aroma.

(11.2oz bottle, notched 02/2005) Hazy copper body topped by a medium-sized beige froth fills out the rest of the pilsner glass lightly. Aroma is sweet, caramel, bready, plum/raisin -- seems like it belongs in a freshly produced pastry. Taste is medium sweet, caramel, raisin and light cherry, floral hoppiness. Light-medium body seems a bit thin.

Bottle. Brown, pink and red in colour. Aromas are sweet, smooth chocolate with a contrasting but complementary fruity sourness. Flavours are earthy and fruity, especially berries with a malty, sweet base. Dry on the finish. Quite addictive.

Bottled. Brown beer with a fruity nose and a fruity and quite strong flavour. Overall a good beer.

Gorgeous brunette w/ rapidly dying head, my glass may have been wet. Not as big of a saaz aroma as the blond, did they even use saaz in this one?? Malt makes more of an impression here than the blond, hops still make an impact, reminds me of a slightly more hoppy O-fest, now on this site I see it is listed as Vienna. I’d like a bit more maltiness though, a bit dissapointing directly following the blond.

Bottle pours a hazy red brown with a smallish head and some lace. The aroma is mild caramel and slightly spicy. The flavor is of caramel and some hops. Overall, this one is different, but drinks pretty well.

Uninspiring aroma. Burnt orang in color. Laces well. Nice mouth feel. Peach, cherry, wheat notes. Could use more bitterness.

Strong, floral, perfumey hop nose somewhat overshadows toasty Vienna malt. Aroma also displays strong pineapple, orange fruity esters that while not unpleasant, seem out of place in a lager. Very cloudy amber-brown with decent, off-white head that laces well. Soft, toasty malt character up front with a fair bitterness in the dry finish. Fruity esters are less apparent though still notable in the flavour. Medium body with smooth texture and moderate carbonation that engages the tongue. Never overtly sweet or cloying. Overall a (very) good beer though the fruitiness seems misplaced and distracting. Lager glass, just above fridge temp. Bottle (Half Time, Mar. 2005).

11.2oz flip top bottle. Hazy dark amber, with minimal white head. Sweet malty aroma with raisin and honey notes. Sweet caramel malt flavor. Very bready. Easy to drink.
