May 3, 2007 Pours a dark reddish-brown with a momentary head and no lace. Aroma of sweet malt and dark... meat? Has a faint taste that reminds me of the juice from a medium-rare steak, along with a sweetness otherwise well-balanced with nice tart hops. Lingering but faint finish, thin body, and low carb. This would be an excellent beer with a bit more head, alongside a steak or beef stew. Otherwise sadly lacking.

Aug 7, 2009 11.2 ounce swingtop bottle from Grape & Gourmet in Virginia Beach, VA. Pours a dark brown color with a thin head, Aroma is raisins, toffee, dark malts, tea and cola. Taste is grapes, berries, cola, raisin, toffee. Medium bodied.

Jun 19, 2008 Flip-cap bottle 33 cl. The bottle almost exploded when I opened it and I spillt about 1/3 of the beer. Pours a cloudy brown with a medium off-white head and a fruity, malty aroma. The taste is really malty with notes of rye-bread, wood, berry and some caramel somewhere. It is a nice beer, not the best, but it is good

Jun 1, 2005 Pretty good. I liked it better than the blond. Good thing there is a wire holding the cap on this thing. Thing could take out an eye or small plane. Alcohol is *robertus* and for me, the aroma was the best, and most noticeable thing.

Dec 16, 2006 Flip-top bottle (33cl): Ruby-amber coloured, hazy, quickly vanishing off-white layer; sweetish caramelly, a bit toasted nose with a bigger touch of ripe fruit (strawberry fields forever..?); sweet flavour not witout a detectable bitterness, medium bodied; fruity-malty, slightly bitter finish. O.K., very good by dutch standards........

Nov 21, 2006 Updated: Nov 25, 2006Hazy, dark copper color, with minimal head and lacing. Semi-sweet malty aroma, and some floral, fruity notes hanging around there, as well. Prominent initial malty/fruity taste, with bitterness taking over in the end. A good, interesting beer.
