Commercial Description:
Christoffel Robertus is a low-fermenting ruby-red beer, brewed in the Münchener-style. It is a malty, fresh beer with a light sweetness. The typical hopbitterness found in Blond, is very lightly present in Robertus. The use of an extensive amount of selected barley gives Robertus the special malty taste and aroma.

I was told this was newly received at the shop, but it sure seemed to have some age. Pours bronze with a small soapy off-white head. The aroma has cream, roasted malt, household cleaner and some toffee-ish traits. Medium slick body with very minor carbonation. The flavor starts a bit metallic with some caramel cream, raisins and dark fruits along with some mustiness. The finish is fruitier and lightly sour. This was very underwhelming to me. Hopefully I can get a better bottle and rerate at a later date.

Caramel, nutty malt (M); herbish hops (L); hints of prune and apricot? Deep red body with a small, off-white head. Moderately sweet, lightly acidic flavor becomes a moderately bitter, lightly acidic finish. There’s a fruity assertiveness on the tip of the tounge (marishino cherries). Husky finish. Medium body, water texture, lively carbonation. The bottom line is: odd that a Vienna should taste like it has fruit in it...whatever, I’m not strict about styles...

Swing top bottle. Pour is a brown with a average white head. Aroma is deffinatly super sweet malts with some brown sugar added. Flavor is a let down. Very weak. Some sweet malts but nothing that compares to the aroma. A just ok beer but it did come with a glass and some coasters.

Deep orange amber with a foamy beige head. Aroma had caramel, malt, and perhaps a touch of fruitiness. Smooth in the mouth with some carbonation. The flavor was slightly sweet, malty, and toffeeish. Not bad.
