Pours bronze with a small soapy off-white head. The aroma has cream, roasted malt, household cleaner and some toffee-ish traits. Medium slick body with very minor carbonation. The flavor starts a bit metallic with some caramel cream, raisins and dark fruits along with some mustiness. The finish is fruitier and lightly sour. This was very underwhelming to me. Hopefully I can get a better bottle and rerate at a later date. wunderbier (1267), Tampere, Finland
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | May 16, 2004 Caramel, nutty malt (M); herbish hops (L); hints of prune and apricot? Deep red body with a small, off-white head. Moderately sweet, lightly acidic flavor becomes a moderately bitter, lightly acidic finish. There’s a fruity assertiveness on the tip of the tounge (marishino cherries). Husky finish. Medium body, water texture, lively carbonation. The bottom line is: odd that a Vienna should taste like it has fruit in it...whatever, I’m not strict about styles... thegreenrooster (1841), St.louis, Missouri, USA
