Commercial Description:
Christoffel Robertus is a low-fermenting ruby-red beer, brewed in the Münchener-style. It is a malty, fresh beer with a light sweetness. The typical hopbitterness found in Blond, is very lightly present in Robertus. The use of an extensive amount of selected barley gives Robertus the special malty taste and aroma.

(Rating #2159)

It was a rather nice drink, if I may say so.
Poured a hearty rusty amber body and a full and creamy head. The aroma and flavor were rather sweet and malty. Notes of caramel, and toffee malt, mildly toasty, somewhat bready, and evenly hopped... which was apparent in a hint of lemon zest in the finish. Nothing oh so complex… but a nice all-around drink.

Pop, phissh, and the swingtop sprays my forearm, somehow...rich, dark brown color, complete opacity, save for the sides, big, milky beige head of foam. Fruity nose, grapes, cherries, berries, raisiny, sweetness, with a roasty appeal as well, putting me in mind of brandy, or port wine. Bold on the palate, a full flush of flavor, very tasty, full of hops on the fore, and malt all the way through. Is this supposed to be a doppelbock? Not bad, whether it is or isn’t. Nice zing in the taste, medium to ful bodied, tingly and tasty, though it drops off a bit too early, would be better if had a bit more heft. Pretty nice, as it is, though...yeah, I’ll take another...

Bottle. Dark amber red with big head. Aroma is spicy and fruity. A bit citrusy with sourness in the finish.

(Bottled) Nice, hazy orangeish red color with medium, tight, but mostly vanishing head. Mild, toffee-sweetish aroma with yeast. Sweet, fruity and toffee-syrupy flavor. Very smooth, medium to full-bodied, quite low-carbonated palate. Quite easily drinkable, despite the sweetness. A nice dessert drink - like a water-blended, toned-down version of Silly Scotch.

Aoma holds sweet malts that invoke raisin and fruit cake. Opaque dark amber in color with a quickly dimishing light tan head. Fore is malty sweet with dark fruit notes, mild caramel and a light not quite tartness that puncuates the malt nicely. Smooth and subtle.

Reddish brown, moderate head, decent lacing and retention. Aroma is grassy hops with notes of caramel and some darker fruits. Soft mouthfeel, very well balanced and enjoyable. May not have big flavors, but everything here is put together really well.

33cl Bottle at Café Gollem. Dark amber colour, creamy light beige head. Aroma of caramel, sweet malts, a hint of chocolate. Flavour is sweet, toasted malts, caramel, some nuttiness. Slightly dry bitter finish. Medium bodied, soft carbonation. Overall very German, and good.
