Swing top bottle. Brown color. malt and a hint of dark chocolate in the aroma. Sweetish, malty flavor, slightly roasted, with raisin and chocolate. Thick mouthfeel. Not too sweet, in fact very well balanced. Excellent doppelbock!

Flip top bottle bought in Indiana, labeled as Double Dark Christoffel Bok, 7.8% ABV and served in a standard pint glass. Pours a mahagany hue with a fading frothy off-white head and left okay lace. The aroma has notes caramel, pumpernickel bread, raisin and prune, hint of molasses and anise, and moderate alcohol vapours. The taste starts with a moderate level of sweet malts and ripened fruit notes over a warming alcohol background. Slight chocolate and liquorice tones as well. The mouth feel is medium to full-bodied and sticky. A very good example that has appeared to make it to the states. Sweet but not cloy, enjoyable.

Thanks to mike for pointing this one out to me. I thought this was a relabel of the Robertus. And now a recap of my rate as I managed to delete the majority of my review. Dark chestnut body with a rich garnet glow when held to the light. Moderate diminishing dark canvas head. Subdued aromas of toasted malts, caramel and currants. Some hints of spice as well. A mild fruit cake scent. Sweet malt and dark caramel start. A herbal/minty hops flavor in the middle. Finish and linger have a little more spice with some anise and meat paste. Smooth liquid across the tongue and slightly sticky as my lips are sticking together. A clean, but slightly sweet bock.

Swing top bottle thanks to Santa. Poured brown in color with a quickly diminishing white head. Strong aroma was hard to put a finger on, but had solid notes of sweet caramel, toffee. Taste was of caramel, hints of dark fruits and chocolate. Very interesting flavors going on, that made this one quite intriguing and good.
