Commercial Description:
In the 1870’s the bottom fermented beers had swept Europe and the bustling working class city of Dortmund, Germany had developed its own adaption of the Pilsner style. The Dortmund style is slightly darker than pilsner, a burnished honey gold, edging toward amber. It steers away from the bold hop bitterness and aroma of Pilsner, preferring a firm maltiness, a full-bodied, slightly sweet palate; and a clean, dry finish. Dortmunder’s strength at 5.5-6% resembling the Marzen’s. This beer style has been nearly lost in history as World War II was very hard on the city of Dortmund.

On tap at the BP. Lovely clear golden with plenty of effervescence. Small white skin of a head. Faint sweet light grain aroma. Flavor is sweet, and bready., A slight tart bite at the end, but tart and refreshing. A bit corny and cerealy but light crisp and nice, if a bit sweet. ]

Finally trying out something from Chuckanut as recommended, and damn, definitely will look for more. They hit this one on the nose! Floral light hoppy aroma with a nice crisp and lightly hopped up and grassy flavor, while holding down a medium boided malt aspect. Tiny notes of honey are found as well. Simple, tasty, and well done. Great stuff!

On tap at Naked City. Pours clear golden with a small white head. Mostly sweet bready malts with some grassy hops. Nice full mouthfeel with a little bit of honey.

Draft at Brouwer’s. Wow, what a delight! Crystal clear bright golden body with multiple plumes of steadily rising carb. Loose white film on top. Nice grassy/floral nose. Crisp body. A bit full for a lager, but that’s to its credit, really. Big earthy hop bill rides up over a light, slightly crackery mid-palate. Sharp, bracing, refreshingly bitter finish.

On tap at Brouwers. Nice bready aroma, a touch sweet with light hoppy notes. Pours golden with a nice head and good visible bubbles. Bready flavors, somewhat biscuity, light sweetness with a hint of bitterness in the finish. Clean, dry finish. Drinks very well. Another gem of a lager from Chuckanut!

On tap. Very clean lager that highlights the malt. Clean bready aroma, crystal clear honey colored. Substantial lingering mouthfeel that keeps the wonderful maltiness around for awhile. Nice balance of bitterness, sweetness, and gentle roundness, without any off flavors or competition from hop flavors/aromas. One is not enough.

Good coloring nice head this beer had the wheat aroma and the sweet grapefruit you always want to have in a Helles. The flavoring was very good and I really liked how this beer finished sweet yet dry.
