Commercial Description:
The specialty beer that will replace the Penance Porter will be the new American Pale Ale. An American Pale Ale is a modified version of the English Pale Ale. The main brewing difference is we use American grown grains and more notably American grown Hops. And what could be more American than; brewed in Pennsylvania by American Brewers. When designing this beer we wanted to embody the term "pale" in Pale Ale. At first glance you will notice a pale straw color. I have noticed that many beer drinker unfavorably prejudge lighter colored beers. Please, all I ask is that you give this beer a chance. I don't think that you will be disappointed. The color resembles that of the Celestial Gold lager, but the character is all Ale. You will notice the fresh dry hop aroma from 6 pounds of US Liberty hops. There is also a fresh and fruit-like aroma from the ale yeast used to ferment this beer. The body is light to medium with a delicate balancing act lent by the caramel malts. The bold hop flavor and finish are sure to please. And remember, we fear no beer.

Sampled at the brewery in a pint glass. This beer was a clear, amber-orange color with a foamy white head. The aroma was sweet and hoppy with a good, crisp scent. Tasted sweet initially but became more bitter as it settled. A mostly dry and fizzy body, with a thinner, crisp finish. The hops were well done, not too overpowering. A pretty well-put-together beer, good characteristics.

Was this beer brewed with flowers? Holy crap! The aroma was very floral. That’s right, not floral hops but floral. Pour was nice deep amber with a gerenous 2 finger off white head. Taste was nice. NIce caramel malt but very subdued. The hops that come in on the aftertaste are very overpowering and take over the whole experience.

On cask at the CBW. Hazy honey orange, creamy off white head. Aroma is tangerine, kiwi, malt. Flavor is meaty, tangy, and citrus hoppy. The cask works well with this beer.

This was served from a cask. Unfiltered and cloudy. Almost looks like a dunkel weizen. Off yellow and almost brown in appearance. Aroma is mild perfumy hops. At room temp, this stuff is fairly hoppy but not quite as hoppy as expected. Almost like an IPA but never quite gets there. Quite flat as with most cask served beers. Has the impression of chewing on some green grapefruit rinds. Overall a little more hoppy than my girlie taste buds can enjoy. Typical APA and leaves a slight bitterness on the palate after the finish.

Pours a copper color with a white head. Aroma is malty, citrus and piney hops. Flavor is malty, caramel with a light bitter piney finish.
