sweet and tart berry aroma,

rich malt flavor, fruity berry character brings in a bit of tartness to balance the sweetness from the rich malt, the dark caramel sweetness gets a bit sticky after a while, finishes with a nice tart berry bite,

Sep 10, 2007 (750ml bottle, 2006 vintage, blackberry release) Pours a murky brown body with a spare beige head. Aroma of dark fruit (raisins, plum, dates, blackberry), caramel, and mustiness. Flavor of rich malts, cherry, dark fruits, and caramel.

Oct 5, 2007 Bottle, I’m guessing 2006 vintage: Pours a murky dark copper mahogany with a fairly-full, stringy-lacing off-white head. Aroma of sweet dark caramel, some oxidation and berries. Body starts with a good, dense dark caramel malty complexity with a lot of dark fruity and berry complexity along with a touch of cardboardy oxidation. Finishes smooth and semi-tart. An interesting brew, but could use a touch more sweetness and a little less oxidation.

Apr 13, 2008 Pours mahogany with no carbonation to speak of. Smells of caramel, buttery, tarte, some spiciness and fruity undertones. Tastes fruity with a lot of sweet malt presence and some alcohol burn on the finish. Not bad, but I found the other quadzillas I’ve had to be more rounded than this one.

Jul 17, 2008 Thanks for sharing, iowaherkeye. Hazy dark copper brown. Very murky with a light thin khaki head. The aroma has some caramel and blackberries. There is also a little bit of funkiness. The taste is sweet blackberries with some toffee and iced tea. There is also a strong candi sugar note in the long lightly toasted nutty finish.

Nov 2, 2008 750, corked and baled, with a cool label. Murky dark amber. Loose tan film. Mild bready, toffee, cherry nose. Mildly watery, thinnish body. A little bit of cherry on the mid-palate, not much finish. Surprisingly underpowered for the style and abv and all that.

May 25, 2009 Pours cloudy amber with a thick and lacy head. Soft cherry, funk and tea nose. The taste is a bit flabby, and really doesn’t keep the promises that the aroma was making.

Dec 22, 2006 Thin dense head of fine bubbles. Minimal carbonation. Head lingers for a while. Sweet fruity and malty aroma with some caramel. Complex fruit aroma. Lots of dark fruits, blackberries, etc. Quite good actually. Color is a murky mahagony red. Sweet, malty, alcoholic. Dry and fruity palate with lots of vinuous notes. Nice alcohol warming. Finish is dry and fruity with a lingering raspberry tartness. Pretty damn good stuff. Thanks to pmarsh for sharing this one.
