Tap @ brew pub: Dark brown color with a unexpected, but pleasant hoppy aroma. You can definitely taste the additional hops which was different, but good for Church since most of their beers taste the same. This one actually stands out. I would add that it has less of a "Sweet Stout" finish and more of a Porter. Anyway, pretty good.

Dec 23, 2009 On tap at the brewery. Apparently this name covers a rotating version of Stouts, this was a Oatmeal Stout. Pours a dark brown color with a medium beige head. A sweet milky aroma, lightly roasted malts. The flavor was nice; milky chocolate, roasted malts, smooth and tasty. Nice.

Nov 15, 2009 Sample at CBW. Darkest brown pour with a big beige head. Oatmeal and roast aroma with a hint of coffee. Roasted malt flavor with a bit of chocolate and a sorta thin finish.

Sep 24, 2009 On tap at the Church. Deep brown black pour with very little head. Cocoa and coffee aroma was mild but very noticeable in the flavor, particularly on the finish which was nice, clean, and dry. Palate was nice and well rounded but not too thick, which I liked. Overall a nice stout, but I prefer their more rich and wine-like Imperial Stout.

Sep 20, 2009 (draft @ Church Brew Works - Pittsburgh, PA) Dark black with a soapy looking tan head. Aroma is very roasty and malty with light hints of chocolate and bitter hops. Flavor is very nicely roasted, counterbalanced with a mild hop bitterness and light chocolate. Went down very smooth.

Mar 18, 2009 On tap at the brewpub. Pours a deep black-brown, with a creamy hazlenut whipped cream head. Silky. Nice solid roast nose, backed with fresh coffee, light alcohol, and cream. Flavor is soft and balanced, with fresh crisp black roast and nice soft alcohol content. Not overly expressive, but a bit salty and oaky as this kind of stout should be. Bright and fresh. Very nice.

Jan 31, 2009 Draft from the brewpub. Pours dark brown with a beige head. Roasty aroma with a touch of sweetness. Dry roasted flavor, a little bit nutty, and a hint of coffee. Pretty bad.

Jun 20, 2007 Growler courtesy of lukin013. Pours brown with a creamy tan head. Smells nutty with some underlying chocolate. Tastes nutty with a nicely balanced amount ofroastiness. A bit on the watery side, but otherwise an above average stout with an herbal semi-sweet finish.
