Fresh Growler, trappist glass. Pours a dark cherry color, bit cloudy, with a small white/offwhite head. Smells of overripe red fruit, cherry predominantly (go figure). Flavor matches the smell, with a huge boozey first taste. Cherry is small compared to the aroma, however, dies out quickly. Warm foamy palate, with a big ol’ brandy booze aftertaste.

750ml bottle: Purchased in Spring 2005, sampled Nov. 2008. This was tough to open. The cage wire broke when I tried to un-do it, and the plastic cork did not want to budge from the bottle. When I did get it off, there was a small pop. There was some carbonation with the pour, but there was very little head and that went away immediately. The color is a reddish, darker brown. It is almost opaque. Nice nose. I get sour cherries, as well as plums, raisins and lots of malt. Hints of some spice and yeastiness also. Feels a bit slick on the tongue. The tates are balanced. The cherries are a bit sour, but not overdone. There are caramel malt, other dark fruits and some spice also. A touch of alcohol also. Nice. I would like to try the blackberry version also.

750mL bottle. Pours a clear, slightly oily orange-amber color; head quickly fades to approximately nothing; thin perimeter of off-white bubbles left. Basic cherry cough syrup, Belgian sugar, and sweet dried cherries in the aroma; not sticky, but very certainly sweet; basic fruit character. Medium-to-full mouthfeel: relaxed amounts of carbonation; lots of dried red fruits and cherries, caramel, and sweet Belgian sugars; very much on the sweet side without being sticky; singular malt and fruit core overall, and kind of disappointing complexity for the amount of alcohol in here. Basic cherry character. Lengthy finish: caramel, red fruits, and Belgian sugar; some toasty malts and breadiness at the far end.

750 via trade with Adrian910ss I believe. Shared with my gf Cyn. To end a night. Caged and harcore plastic corked that was a bitch and a hurt hand of hell to get off. Pours orange amber with a 1 finger tan head. Nose is sweet and full of cherries. Taste is sweet and full of cherries and some nice deep fruit. Tasty.

Bottle. Thanks to Vferg for sharing this. Also had at capones on draft. Pours a dark ruby body with a white head. Aroma is malty with sweet cherries, spices, and some wood character. The etoh is noticable and slightly more pronounced from the cherries. A solid beer through and throughout.

750ml bottle @Hoboken#1-pours a white ring for a head and hazy amber color. Aroma is cherry/wood/grainy/spicy. Taste is cherry/wood/grainy/spicy, smoother than expected from the aroma.

Growler shared at Paul’s gathering. Sweet, malty, vegetal aroma. Sage and yeast. No cherry at all. Flavor is harsh vegetals and booze. Oh well.
